Cracks of gunfire ring out across a downtown street seemingly abandoned. If one were to look closely they would notice the two opposing sides firing at each other. On one end of the street a man stands in an alley way wielding an assault rifle and a katana on his hip, stealthily looking around the corner down the street. Across the street from him a woman stands wielding an assault rifle as well. Looking down the street the man makes note of the layout of the street. Skyscrapers line the street, the street itself empty with some vehicles that were left parked before the fighting began. On the opposite end of the street vehicles are lined up forming a barricade. The man takes note of the number of enemy soldiers, three of them stationed at the barricade and most likely more in the buildings. The man then looks at the girl and signals with his hand, in an instant she starts firing at the barricade from her position landing a lucky shot taking one down. The soldiers at barricade quickly duck behind cover trying to stay alive. In the mean time the man runs forward into the street and takes a position behind a car. Within seconds of pulling off the maneuver shots ring out from the buildings closer to the barricade. The man pops up from his cover and fires at the soldiers in the buildings while the woman runs into a building on her side of the street. She then begins to fire as well giving the man time to run into the same building.
The building had a small lobby before turning into hallways, the woman quickly signals to the man to follow before heading further into the building. The two of them quickly walk through a hallway before opening a door to a stairwell. They start ascending the stairs going three flights of stairs up before opening the door to the floor leading them to another hallway. Half way down the hallway the woman turns to a door and opens it, leading to an large room with a long table surrounded by chairs. The room had no windows, but was instead decorated with many paintings. The woman then goes to a painting of a snowy forest and removes the painting revealing a safe. The man looks at the woman in surprise before speaking.
"Remind me not to question the location of any of your ammo caches again." The woman quietly laughs to herself before responding.
"One of the requirements of passing the Scouting Program was to remember where all of the caches were. Trust me, it was a pain." The woman opens the safe and grabs a couple boxes of ammo and puts it on the table. The man just looks at her with a smirk on his face before speaking.
"Well, I mean it's not as useful as remembering every single safe house in the world and making sure they're all stocked." The woman shakes her head with a smile on her face loading her rifle with a fully loaded mag before loading another.
"I mean not all of us can be the Cobalt's Shadow, Will." Will laughs while loading his own rifle.
"I hope not Brooklyn, that would make my life a whole lot more difficult. Can you imagine trying to run the shadows with a council. I'd spend all of my time trying to convince them that I actually need to run missions." Brooklyn still smiling finishes loading her last magazine and puts it on her belt. Before looking at William.
"You know it's times like these when it's just you and me running an Op that I forget we're in a war. It's like you're my peace in the time of war." Will finishes loading his last magazine puts it on his belt and looks at Brooklyn with a smile on his face.
"I could say the same about you. Now you want to finish this Op quickly?" Will asks, walking to the door opening it with a flourish for Brooklyn.
"Of course, I would love to finish this Op already, we're on a roll for finishing Ops before anyone else. Are you okay to use your sword?" Brooklyn asks walking through the door with her assault rifle now at the ready.
"You know fully well that I don't even need the sword for this." Will says following Brooklyn back down the hallway towards the stair well.
"I know but we can't have the enemy knowing that you have Royal Blood, now can we?" Brooklyn says walking down the stairs. Around the second floor they start hearing enemy soldiers checking the rooms down stairs looking for them. Brooklyn quickly signals to Will who steps down the stairs in front of her and puts his hand on his katana.
