*That moment when you write something, look at it, and shake your head. All the while thinking how did you manage to write it. Eh, someone might find it slightly entertaining.*
Chapter 17 – Soaring
A groan is heard as Echo wakes up, William then sighs stands up from his chair and walks over to her. He then reaches out his hand to help her up, Echo then looks at him with a shocked expression and looks around.
"Yeah, I didn't kill you, probably would've gotten in trouble if I did." William said helping Echo up, Remnant then coughed to get the Echoes attention.
"Echo, you'll be showing Echo around the base, at eleven-hundred he needs to be in the training hall." Remnant stated before going back to her computer, Echo then stood up and walked to the door opposite of the elevator.
"Okay, Echo we'll be going on a tour of the base." Echo said, motioning for William to follow her. Exiting the foyer the two of them entered a long empty hallway with multiple doors on either side, the walls being blank.
"This is the main entry hall, the doors here lead to mostly storage rooms. Some of the rooms belong to Relics though." Echo explained walking though the halls, William gave her a quick puzzled look.
"Relics?" William asked, causing Echo to give him a confused look before speaking.
"Relics are the rank just below the Cobalt's Shadow. I'm guessing your father never explained this to you?" Echo explained and asked in response to William's question, William then shook his head and replied.
"My father decided it would be best to learn everything about the Shadows from being a Shadow. He never explained ranks or anything of the sort." William explained, causing Echo hum in response.
"Well, I'll give you a quick run down of the ranks. First you have Echoes which are the rookies, we almost strictly train and sometimes get sent on missions within Cobalt. Next you have the Shadows, they make up the bulk of the force doing missions under the direction of Remnants and Relics. Remnants are the third rank, they sort through information and assign missions, sometimes going on missions themselves leading a team of Shadows. The highest most people can make it is to Relic, Relics are the best fighters we have, their whole job is to operate under the Cobalt's Shadow. They handle some of the toughest missions we go on, usually with a team, sometimes by themselves." Echo said before the hallway turned, around the corner was a large two-story room, the bottom had a large floor like a gymnasium while there was a balcony circling around.
"This is the training hall, depending on the time of day you'll either be here with other Echoes or you'll want to stay clear of it." Echo stated before walking down another hall attached to the training hall. William glanced at the training hall before following Echo.
"This hall is what we call the Archives, it's essentially just a lot of separate rooms with files in them. But it's also where the Remnants have all their rooms. So, be careful you don't open the wrong door when you go to get a file." Echo explained walking though the hallway with William matching her pace. They then reach a stair case and go down a floor, the next hallway being a continuation of the Archives. They then make it back to the training hall, this time on the bottom floor of the room. Echo then leads William down another hallway.
"This hallway is the Lounge, it's not an actual lounge but it's where everyone meets up. There's meeting rooms for briefings and debriefings. Then there are a few other rooms people normally use for eating lunch." Echo explained before she stopped and turned around to look at William.
