Riley's alarm clock blared through her ears like a fire truck wailing down a quiet ally. She moaned and slapped her hand on the snooze button. She tossed over and shut her eyes tight when her phone starting to ring. It surprised Riley to the point where she nearly rolled off her twin sized bed. She glared at her iPhone as if it followed her around, commenting on her every move. She picked up and answered with a groan.
"Did you hit the snooze button?"
"Shut up, Ariana."
"Common Riley. You know what happens when you hit the snooze button. You never get up until five minutes 'till I have to pick you up," Ariana explained. Riley heard water running in the static of her phone.
"Yah I know. Just... five more minutes," Riley groaned.
"No."
"Yes. Goodbye." Riley practically slapped the red button on the screen to hang up as she stared out her window for a few seconds. A tree branch filled with luscious green leaves cradling specs of dew illuminating in the sunrise fell right in her view. I cardinal zipped past her and chirped a soothing melody accompanied by the fresh morning smell of damp air. Riley loved that smell. To her it smelled like a fresh herb garden, and she couldn't get enough of it. Her eye lids grew heavy as she took a whiff of the air. She shut her eyes and fell back on her pillow.
Ring ring
Ring ring
Riley launched her hand on the phone and threw it on her love seat in the corner of the room. She buried her head back in her pillow as her phone rang a few more times. Finally, it stopped. Riley sighed and shut her eyes again only to be interrupted by her text alert. She groaned.
Another text alert.
Riley covered her ears with her pillow.
Another.
And another.
And another.
Riley launched up and stomped to her phone and picket it up.
Ariana: Hey
Ariana: Pick up
Ariana: I know you can.
Ariana: Just reach for it.
Ariana: Dammit Riley just pick up
your phone.
Riley texted back slowly. She imagined to look on Ariana's face when she saw the little speech bubble indicating that she was writing back.
Is it gonna be like this every morning?
It only took a matter of seconds for Ariana to text back.
Yup ^.^
Ariana made Riley call her so she could hear her shower running in the background. She hung up as she stepped in the shower and let the warm water run down her back. She ran her fingers through her long chestnut hair with shampoo and conditioner. She scrubbed and stepped out of the shower and quickly put her hair up in a towel. She slipped on underwear and a pink tank top and went to her closet. She took out a pair of denim skinny jeans and a teal and white plaid button down shirt. She left the buttons open to show her pink tank and let the back of the shirt flow down her curvy body. She slipped her pair of cream colored Keds as she made her way back to the bathroom. She unraveled her towel and let her damp, curly hair down. She took the blow dryer and just ruffled her hair to keep the curl. After her hair was dried, she picked up her phone and dialed Ariana's number. She picked up on the second ring.
