Maden
"You are remarkably well behaved tonight. What did you do this time?" Mother dearest asked, as she adjusted a dinner napkin around the collar of her blouse.
I shifted nervously in my chair, trying to ease out the constriction in my throat. My mother was a very quiet and peaceful woman and it was seldom that she behaved the opposite of that. Right now, it was one of those seldom moments.
"I asked you something, Sylvia and I demand an answer." She stared directly at me and I tried every possible way to dodge her stare.
"Sylvia..." She pressed on. I knew better than to make mother wait for an answer.
"I...may or may not have punched a guy in the face..."
Dad choked on the piece of chicken that he had just put in his mouth and mother's eyes widened to match those of the frog's that I owned as a pet when I was six.
"You did what?!"
"Uh...punched a guy in the face?" I answered, unsure of what mother would say next.
"And broke his nose too." My brother added as he sauntered into the dining room and took his place beside me.
Bad timing is a bitch!
"Broke his nose?" Dad spoke up, intentionally exaggerating the whole situation and then turned to give me a smirk.
People, I tell you.
"But in support of my little dumb sister here, I would've done the same, If I would've been there. Hell, I would've torn his nose apart just with bare hands." He stabbed the pieces of the chicken breast in his plate.
"Mind your language, Ilian." Mother glared at him to which he raised his hands in surrender.
"Why did you do that?" Mother turned back to me, the food on her plate still untouched.
"He tried to grope me."
"He what?!" Dad stood from his chair and my brother continued to stab angrily at the chicken.
"Ian... Sit down." Mother ordered and he sat down, his displeasure easily evident by murder of the chicken placed on his plate
"Tell us about it." Mother urged me to speak further.
"Well, I was coming back from the river after swimming practice and as usual I was late." Swim team captains were required to look at the training of every other swimmer in their team and it was a rule for us to leave the swim area last. "The locker room was almost empty and I had just changed when I felt someone creep behind me."
