Chapter Nine

Normani shifts Isabella higher on her hip before reaching out and knocking on the door.

The door opened after a few minutes to reveal Lauren with a young girl - about the same age as Isabella - in her arms.

"Hi, Mani." Lauren smiled, adjusting the baby on her hip.

Smiling, Normani looks at the little girl before glancing at Lauren. "You kept her?"

Lauren nodded, releasing a long breath through her nose.

"She's beautiful." The dark-skinned girl said with a soft smile. "Is everyone here?" She asked nervously.

"Yeah. Come in." Lauren opened the door and let Normani in.

Walking inside, Normani takes a deep breath and looks at Lauren. "Laur, I-I'm still in love with her."

"I know." Lauren said before shrugging. She closed the front door and adjusted the baby in her arms.

"I tried to get over her but I just, I can't." She said softly, running a hand through Isabella's hair.

Lauren nodded, releasing another long breath through her nose. "Let's go outside."

"Are you okay?" Normani asked softly as she tries to hold back a pained expression.

"Yeah." Lauren responded. "I'm fine." She smiled, placing her daughter on the floor. The young girl ran off in the direction of her grandmother.

Ryder appears in the hallway and takes Isabella from Normani, disappearing outback.

"So, how are things with you, Mila, and Q?" Normani asked softly.

Lauren turned slightly to look at Normani. She swallowed. "We're okay, I guess." She shrugged.

"What's going on?" Normani asked, frowning as she looks at Lauren.

Lauren shook her head. "Nothing's going on. What makes you ask that?"

"You're acting strange." The dark-skinned girl said softly. "Is it because I'm here?"

"Lo, you coming?" Camila asked, walking up behind Lauren and wrapping her arms around her waist, kissing her neck.

Normani quickly looks down at her hands, her heart racing in her chest.

Lauren giggled. "Mila, stop." She leaned back against Camila's chest, sighing contently. "To answer your question, Mani. It's not because you're here."

"Think we can sneak upstairs for a quickie?" Camila whispered in Lauren's ear, sucking the lobe into her mouth.

Tears fill Normani's eyes and she bites down roughly on her lip.

Lauren shook her head. "Camz, stop. My mom is right over there and your dad is watching."

"So?" Camila whispered, moving down to suck on Lauren's pulse.

"I-I think I should go." Normani said quickly, rushing outside, she gets Isabella and makes her way back inside and toward the front door.

Opening the door, she stopped upon seeing Lauren's father.

"Mani, don't go." Lauren said stopping behind Normani. She froze, her eyes widened in fear.

"Lauren." He said, pushing past Normani who trips into Camila and tenses.
