Chapter Twenty-Three

Three weeks later

"Mama, when's mommy coming?" Prue asked, sitting on the couch excitedly.

Camila was supposed to be picking her, Kaiden, and Harley up for spring break.

"She should be here in about half an hour." Normani said softly. She smiled and ran her fingers through Prue's hair.

Grinning, Prue grabs Normani's hand. "I love you mama."

"I love you too, baby." Normani smiled softly.

Normani's phone began going off and Camila's face appears on the screen.

Normani sighed and grabbed her phone off the table. She knew exactly why Camila was calling. She knew this would happen, Camila would cancel.

"Hello?"

"Mani, I'm so sorry, I can't get them. Something came up with work." Camila said immediately.

Normani sighed heavily. She left the room so Prue couldn't hear her yell at Camila. "I knew you'd do this! Do you know how much Prue was looking forward to this? Do you? No! You don't! This is going to really upset her!" She yelled.

"It's not like I planned this! I was looking forward to this too. Just tell her I'm sorry and we'll reschedule." Camila said, running a hand through her hair.

Normani rolled her eyes. "Reschedule?! You never get time off! In fact, you never make time to see your kids!" She yelled.

Camila sighed and ran a hand through her hair again. "I'm sorry that I actually have a job." She snapped.

Normani hung up without even saying goodbye. She was really pissed.

"Did mom cancel again?" Kaiden asked from the doorway.

Normani turned to face her son, she nodded. "I'm sorry."

The nine year old just shrugs. "I'm used to it mama, I know not to get my hopes up."

"Come here." Normani said softly. She wrapped her arms around Kaiden.

Kaiden hugs her for a few minutes before pulling away. "Let me tell Prue and Harley, it'll be easier coming from me."

Normani nodded, kissing his head before he left the room. She released a heavy sign.

"She cancel again?" Dinah asked softly, walking up behind Normani and pulling the older girl into her arms.

Normani nodded. "She always does this." She muttered.

"Why don't we have Ally and Andrew bring Olivia and Jackson over? They can even stay with us all of spring break." Dinah said softly.

Normani nodded. "At least it would be something different for the kids."

Prue runs into the room in tears, holding her arms up for Dinah to pick her up.

Dinah picked Prue up. "You are getting to big to be picked up." Dinah said softly, bouncing Prue to calm her down.

Burying her face in Dinah's neck, Prue lets out a soft sob. She always struggled to speak when she was upset.

Dinah rubbed the girl's back, swaying her. "Shh." She cooed.

After a few minutes, Prue calmed down, her entire body exhausted. "How come mommy doesn't love me anymore?"

"She does love you. She's just very busy." Dinah said softly.

Suddenly Prue's entire body tenses up and she begins seizing in Dinah's arms.
