Chapter Twenty-Eight~

I was in a hospital bed and I was staring at the ceiling of the room, they were running tests on the babies and I was to stay here and wait for the results.

Luna and Louis were whispering in the corner probably about this.

I was honestly scared to death at the moment.

I mean, what if they were to die?'

Just thinking about it made me cry.

"Hey." Liam's voice said as he entered the room.

I looked at him, not in the mood to smile or speak.

I just wanted to know what was going on.

"Harry and Zayn are on their way." He continued.

I nodded at him and felt a sharp pain, causing me to wince.

Just then, Liam walked to my side and squeezed my hand softly, causing a tear roll down my face in worry.

The doctor walked into the room and he looked at me, a solemn expression on his face.

"Miss Payne, you're children need to be removed immediately or they might die."

I gasped and tried to sit up, but Liam kept me down.

"Take them out now, please!" I begged and the doctor sighed.

He gripped on his clipboard and he looked uneasy.

"There is a strong probability that one of the twins may not survive the cesarean."

Instantly, a look of sadness crossed Liam, Luna, and Louis' faces.

I shook my head, hoping that it wasn't true.

"Please, tell me that's a small probability. Please."

I begged, a tear falling down my face.

The doctor sighed and a crew of nurses of every type walked in, pressing something and they began to move my bed.

"I'm sorry Miss Payne, but we must do the procedure now."

I yelled, sobs racking through my frame. no. No. NO!

˚•˚LIAM'S POV˚•˚ 

I saw as they wheeled Sam away in a stretcher and I felt my heart break in two.

Now I knew how my mom and dad felt when they saw my condition.

Harry and Zayn ran into the room and Luna got up running past her brother and after Sam.

I knew she would be with her through this.

Harry looked at me, pure worry in his face.

"Where is she?" He said sternly.

I shook my head.

"One of the babies might not live after they take them out of her." I said solemnly.

Harry and Zayn's faces showed pure horror.

I grabbed my cell phone and I ran outside of the room, finding the best place where there was signal.

I dialed his number waiting for a ring and Niall answered.

"What's wrong Liam?" He said, oblivious to the problem at hand.

I tried not to cry, holding my composure for Sam.

"Get a plane ticket to New York. Now." I said sternly.

Niall coughed.

"Why? Is there something important in New-"

"Sam's living in New York and she's in the hospital. She's about to have the twins and one of them might not survive, Niall."

I waited for a response and all I heard was him mutter 'Oh my god' then he hung up the phone.

What was going to happen?

˚•˚SAM'S POV˚•˚ 

I felt the pressure cease and I heard one baby cry, but there was only one.

I didn't hear the harmony of two babies and I looked up to see Luna's face etched in shock.

"Lina.." I breathed exhausted. "Let me see them."

Luna pet my head and the doctors put the crying baby down onto my chest and I saw it was the girl.

She had Niall's big blue eyes, but she had a head of curly brown hair like mine.

I saw how unnaturally tiny she was and I kissed her forehead as she cried.

"She looks like Claire, Claire Luna Horan." I said weakly.

Luna smiled and the doctor scooped her up in his arms.

"She needs to be in an incubator, but she'll be fine in a few weeks."

I smiled and then I realized, the boy wasn't here.

"Where's the boy?" I asked and Luna squeezed my hand.

The doctor sighed, removing his mask and shook his head.

"His heart rate is too low and he needs to go to surgery.. He was born with problem in his heart and there was a severe chance he won't make it past two days." He said.

I shook my head and Luna kept petting my hair as I sobbed.

The nurse whispered something in the doctor's ear and he nodded as they wheeled me out of the room.

My heart was breaking.

When would I see my little girl?

When would I see my little boy?

Would I even get to see him at all?

I didn't know...
