THE FINAL DANCE: PART 6

Nikki's Diary:

I awaited for their return, but I could only see one of them return.

Brandon, MY BOYFRIEND returned alone.

"I'm back guys." he said.

"But where's Maxwell?" I asked.

"He...He went home. But he asked me to take great care of you and for us to enjoy ourselves." he explained.

"Okay, let's make this a night to remember!" I said with determination.

And I was right, it WAS a night to remember! The 10 of us danced as a group several times and then it was time for the slow dances. Our group separated into our respective pairs and I found myself dancing with Brandon... Once again. This time it felt magical, like nothing could bring us down, like we were unstoppable, like we weren't two hearts.

We were one.

"I love you." I said to him.

"Wait, did I just hear you correctly?" he said as he blushed.

"Of course, you said it to me. It's only fair that I return the favor."

"How polite of you, you're one of a kind.. Nikki Maxwell."

"And so are you... Brandon Roberts."

And we got closer, and closer, we were going to KISS! FOR REAL THIS TIME!

"STOP EVERYTHING AND LOOK AT ME!!!" screeched a familiar diva.

She ruined yet ANOTHER perfect kiss moment between me and Brandon!

"After everything I put together went so perfectly, you still take him away from me! I've had enough of you Maxwell, and now it's time for you to pay!"

No... She wouldn't...PLEASE NOT NOW!!!...

"LADIES AND GENTLEMAN, BOYS AND GIRLS TAKE A LOOK AS I REVEAL TO YOU... THE TRUTH BEHIND NIKKI MAXWELL!!!"

She turned on the projection screen onstage to reveal...

...A picture of Blonde hair dye?!

Everyone seemed pretty confused. I'm a brunette so I wouldn't use blonde hair dye.

"Miss Hollister... Why are you projecting a picture of hair products during this dance?" Principal Winston asked.

"I...I...NEVER MIND!" She yelled as she ran off the stage in embarrassment.

"Sorry for the inconvenience everyone, we have two hours left so be sure to enjoy yourselves and thank you for your contribution to my school over the years." Principal Winston explained, it's gonna be pretty different calling somebody else a principal. He has done a pretty good job.

Unfortunately, that brought the end of the slow dances and everyone went back to our table.

"So, mind explaining to me why you use blonde dye?" Brandon asked me.

"It's to maintain my bright, blonde hair. It must shine brighter than the sun or else it won't do!" I joked.

This made everyone laugh.

"But why is she showing hair products as my secret?" I wondered.

"That isn't what she was planning." Brandon said suddenly.

"Huh? How do you know?" I asked.

"Maxwell told me that Mackenzie blackmailed him into placing a note in your locker in exchange for her to keep your secret hidden. She asked me to meet her in the janitor's closet because she said that she would leave you alone. When I entered the closet she forced herself onto me, that's when you saw us in the heat of the moment.

The only way for the deal to be broken was that you and I got together. He took a pretty big risk to keep your secret hidden, even though I was on the receiving end of the aftermath...

...I respect his decision for keeping you safe." he explained.

"Everything makes sense now, he must feel terrible for what he did. But I forgive him, and it looks like he was two steps ahead of her anyway. I guess that he fulfilled his intentions tonight after all." I told him.

"He sure did, but now it's my turn. I want tonight to be an unforgettable night for you, one that you will cherish over a lifetime. A memory for you to cherish as well as I for once." he said.

"You're such an idiot, every moment that I have spent with you has been unforgettable. And... I want to create more." I poured my heart out to him for a change.

"Looks like we better get started then." Brandon smiled.
