Tap tap tap! I heard someone at my window. It was my best friend. " You sure about this?" he asked. I nodded. I handed him my bag and climbed out the window. We silently jogged down the driveway and got into his car.

- ten min. later.-

"Ya know, you could come live with me and my family. We all love you and mom already talks about you like her own kid. " Alex said. I shook my head. " Not talking I see?" I shook my head again. We drove for another 20 min. in silence. Only the radio. " Alex?" I asked him timidly. He grunted. "Is this really what I should do? I could try to deal with him. I could put up with him. Its easier now. " He slammed on the brakes, and gave me the most shocked look ever. " ARE YOU FRIKIN INSANE?! THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL IM LETTING YOU GO BACK THERE. EVER." he screamed at me, gradually getting louder with every word," HE TREATS YOU LIKE CRAP AMBER. YOU CAN'T LET HIM DO THAT ANYMORE. YOU NEED TO GET OUT OF THERE BEFORE HE KILLS YOU!" The whole time he was yelling I sat there in silence. He thinks I'm stupid. He agrees with my dad! I can't believe this... "Ok..." I mumbled. "What?" he whispered. I didn't answer. I just grabbed my backpack and got out of the car. " Amber? What the Hell are you doing" he called after me. " Bye," I said without turning back. I knew what he was going to do next but I continued to ignore him. Sure enough, I was right. I heard the car's engine rumble to life and slowly pull up next to me. " Get back in the car... Please? I didn't mean it like that and you know it. I just don't want you to turn out like they did. That would kill me Amber... Please don't ignore me. Amber? AMBER?! AMBER WATCH OUT!" He screamed the last part. I turned to look at him. Wrong move. I should have just looked straight up. Now I'm lying face first on the concrete, in complete blackness, and I can hear the muffled shouts of two men and distant sirens. I shouldn't have tried to leave! I should have just stayed. Now I'm going to die... No. Don't do that to Alex! NO!
