The light was still off a week after my stream ended. I had to resort to some other forms of illumination around my dorm room. All of them seemed too bright and reminded me of a hospital.
I decided, finally, that I would go out and get a h*cking light bulb! I had gone too long without it.
I went through the common room and got my keys off the hall table on my lanyard. I open the door, then as I was locking it I felt a tap on my shoulder."Gahhh!" I jumped back. My eyes met a maroon, cotton t-shirt and as I looked up, piercing green eyes stared back at me.
"I wanted to return these." My underwear was dangling from his finger. My face turned bright red and I wanted to disintegrate into the carpeted hallway. "You ran off so quickly and left these behind." Dead silence followed. "I didn't know if you meant it to be a parting gift or if it was just left." He tilted his head to try to get my attention after I decided that staring at my feet were the best thing to do.
"Thanks." I said. I quickly grabbed the underwear and stuffed it into my hobo bag. Crossing my arms, I decided to start heading out now.
"Are you going to need those for later or are you going to put them in your dorm?"
"Oh." I was still so mortified. Walking back to my door I unlocked it. He was still standing there leaning against his door. I opened it and started closing it when he walked inside. What is he doing?!?!?
"So this is where you live." He stated.
"Yeah," I replied. "I'm pretty sure it's exactly the same as your dorm room, but just a little more pink."
"Right," he responded.
"What are you doing in my dorm anyways?"
"Making sure that underwear gets to its rightful home."
"You gave them back to me, wasn't that enough?"
"They need to go to their drawer, not just the hands of their owner. That isn't good enough for me. What if they were left in another hallway where someone, not me, could take them and never give them back?"
"Um..."
"I'm not a pedophile, I promise."
"Isn't that just the thing a pedophile would say?"
"Oh... uh... no," he tried to play it off as really innocent and jokingly.
I walked over to my room and put the underwear in it's drawer. He was standing in the doorframe as I turned around and scared me AGAIN!
"Wow you're jumpy," he stated.
"I guess," I responded.
"Why isn't your light working?" he asked.
"It just burnt out I guess."
"Do you have another light bulb?"
"No. I don't know which one to buy so I've just been putting it off."
"Huh."
"Well..." I started saying awkwardly "I was kind of heading out."
"Yeah, of course." He started walking away and left my dorm to return to his own.
"Bye, I guess." I whispered.

After going to Target, I had come to the conclusion that I have no idea what different lightbulbs fit what. There were all these different kinds and I didn't know which one to buy.I texted my dad pictures and he said that we would buy the right one together tomorrow because he would need to see the dead lightbulb in my dorm room first.
So I stopped by Tropical Smoothie, empty handed, to buy my favorite strawberry kiwi smoothie. I had recently been buying too many, but I couldn't help it. I was addicted. Returning to my door, I unlocked it and stepped inside. On the counter of my kitchenette I saw a wrapped box with a sticker labeled "For Kayla." There was nothing saying who it was from though.
I unwrapped it and sitting before me was a lightbulb. I took it out of the box and tried replacing it with the burnt out one in my room and lo and behold it fit perfectly and left me with fluorescent lights no more.
My head kept going around trying to think of who would've bought it for me. I had mentioned it to my room-mates but they didn't even know which kind to get. I had just texted my dad, so there wasn't enough time to buy me one. Then I thought... Steeve. It was him that bought it for me.
