Harry's POV
It was still sinking in the fact that I was about to go on a hunt for this chalice that will apparently destroy the world we live in if it's placed in the wrong hands.
The worst part about this whole entire thing was how the fuck am I going to explain this to my mother?
Mental note to ask Jules or Lassiter about that, I thought to myself as I had found myself walking into the Library on a Saturday.
I was hoping that I would not have to worry about the search until Monday. Then again, the whole entire future and existence of the world are going to be placed into my hands. I shook my head before walking up the spiral staircase once again.
Jules and Lassiter were waiting for me at the top of the stairs, impressed that I didn't back out of this deadly task.
"Ok Styles, you have managed to pass the first test of proving your worthiness of being a Librarian—showing up. Follow us," Lassiter stated as he and Jules led me towards the back.
There was a secretary that had asked for some special code or handshake or something along those lines that I wasn't going to learn anytime soon. I mean this mission was probably going to be a one-time thing.
Suddenly, the floor began to collapse in front of Jules and Lassiter before the two of them began walking down the new set of stairs. I followed them with extreme caution before we had finally reached the floor.
The lights were turned on by the sounds of clapping to illuminate what had to be heaven.
There was an endless sea of shelves and glass cases full of artifacts that were buried and hidden for centuries. There were more shelves of books that were older than I probably was, or maybe even the earth.
"Welcome to the Library of Artifacts!" Lassiter announced.
"The Library was created around the time the earth was created, so it has been here longer than Lassiter and I have been. This part of the Library contains all genres of books: Regular Fiction, Science Fiction, Fantasy, Historical Fiction, Urban Fiction, etc.," Juliet explained. "There are even the greatest written fan-fictions!"
Where the fuck was this all of my life? I had thought to myself.
"It even contains the most famous books in here that have their own movies," Lassiter added.
"So the two of you are saying that you have the Hunger Games, The Fault In Our Stars, Paper Towns, Divergent, and any other book?" I asked with my mouth agape as I continued to look around.
"We even have Everything, Everything," Juliet whispered.
"For generations, thousands upon thousands of Librarians have found and protected the artifacts of each story, whether they were as famous as Paper Towns, or just another outstanding book written by an ordinary author," Lassiter said.
"We have done a very amazing job at keeping all these books and the artifacts that come with them protected from harm's way," Juliet stated.
"What artifacts?" I asked as the three of us had taken a seat at a table.
"You see Styles, all of these books that we guard with our lives come with a special artifact. For example, each of the Hunger Games books has the special pin that people see on the front cover and Paper Towns has the famous map with the push pins of various locations," Lassiter explained.
"Any artifact that falls into the wrong hands can cause massive chaos and destruction for the Library and the world," Juliet added.
"So I'm guessing that one of the books is the book that uses the Chalice?" I asked curiously.
The two of them nodded their head side to side before Juliet pulled a book from one of the shelves. It was gigantic and had about 800, if not more pages between the front and the back. From the looks of the contraption, it appeared to be some form of a historical book or maybe a spell book.
"This is the big ole book of the Supernatural. This bad boy will tell you everything and anything you need to know about the Supernatural. It ranges from spells, potions, rituals, sacrifices, and enchantments to witches, werewolves, and vampires—which is what we are dealing with," Lassiter explained.
He took the book from where it was placed and began to flip through enormous amounts of pages before he had found the one he was looking for. Lassiter then turned the book around and slid it over to where I was sitting.
"The Chalice of Dracula," I had read aloud.
The book began to produce a small animation movie about the chapter.
"The Chalice of Dracula was used by the famous bloodsucker himself to allow him to regain his strength as well as his age and facial features. Dracula would drag his victims towards his lair and kill them in an instant. He would place some of the blood into the chalice and drink from it to regenerate. Dracula was able to get away with this until someone had found out about the nocturnal creature's wrong deeds.
He was killed near an amber tree not far from his castle by that person, with his remains turning into ash. When Dracula died, the Chalice was buried among the ruins of ancient vampire village where all vampires lived
At the time Dracula was around, most vampires grew up and stayed in the village to protect themselves from other dangers including werewolves, demons, witches, humans, etc.
If the Chalice was ever to be found, Dracula could come back from the dead with the blood of the seeker who searched for his Chalice and all life forms could be in danger!
Dracula could also rebuild his army to take over the town before taking over the world."
The animated movie was over as the book closed itself shut.
Leaving me and my brain to let all of that information sink in.
