Zac's POV

Carly was again absent today. Yesterday I gave her red roses. And she is missing today again.
"Hey Zac. Did you hear that new girl died?" Neil asked me.
"What?" I asked.
"Yeah the new girl. Carol no Carly the one who used to be alone. She was suffering from cancer and passed away yesterday." He says. My world stops for a minute. "She was a pretty girl. Poor her." He says.
I leave all my stuff and run towards her house. After reaching her house I tang the door bell hoping to find her in but no one comes out. I was breathing heavily. Could it be true? Did she really had cancer? Why didn't she tell me anything?? Maybe Neil is joking. What if she just went out with her family?

I took out my phone and called uncle Andrew. He works at city hospital.
"Hello" He answered my phone call after third ring.
"Hello Uncle A. I needed to ask you something. Is there any patient named Carly Garrett?" I worriedly asked.
"I'll call you in 5 minutes after checking on that." He answered.

It's been 10 minutes and I'm here impatiently waiting for his call. My phone rings and I picked it up without looking at it.
"Hello Zac." Uncle A says.
"Yes Uncle What happened?"
"Apparently there was a patient last night named Carly Garrett. Suffering from Lukemania final stage. She was admitted around 6 in the evening. And died at 10:32. Dr Raymond one of our best doctor was operating her but they couldn't save her. No one could and even her mother knew that. Her mother is here right now doing formalities and paperwork." He informs me.
I thank him before keeping the phone. My heart fell there. She was suffering and I didn't even noticed. I couldn't do anything for her. She didn't even tell me. I was standing there outside her house and my world was scrambled.

I quickly recollected myself and decided to go to hospital. On my way to hospital I collect black rose. I never thought that I would ever give this to her. I slowly make my way towards hospital. I see her mother standing at the counter. I look at her with sympathy. She points towards a room and nods at me. She is very understanding. I walk inside the room.

I see a pale lifeless body. I keep the black rose near her.
"You know I really loved you. I really felt something for you. I wanted to be friend with you but I don't think you ever thought of me like a friend. If you would have then you would have told me..." I was cut of by her mother.
"Even she felt something for you. I may not know you but I know that my daughter cared for you enough."
"If she cared for me then why didn't she ever tell me anything?" I ask.
"Well she was going to. But then suddenly she had her attack. And this time she wasn't strong enough to fight. You need to understand my boy that she has been fighting this for long. She fought for 2 years. It wasn't easy for her. She didn't have a normal life knowing that she could leave any day. She didn't wanted to get attached to anyone and this was also the reason why we came here. But then you came. You started to break her walls. I was happy to see that her walls were breaking. I thought she could live a normal life. But she knew that she isn't going to live long. I had this false hope but she knew and was ready for it. And this time she just couldn't make it." Her mother told me. All this information was too muck to grasp in. I was standing there dumbfound.
"The funeral is on the day after tomorrow. Please do come." She requests before leaving me in my thoughts.
