-Those peaceful Days -

I gasp for air gripping my stomach, blood pooling from wounds. I cry out in the darkness but no one comes. Slowly a vault like door opens, light entering. There, a couple looks down at me laughing. They look at me pausing for a second as I reach my hand towards them. I squint my eyes the light blaring from the hallway.

"Please...I need help..." I call out. The one lady begins to giggle. She walks towards me giving me a swift kick to the torso. I'm flung further into the darkness. I cry out wrestling pain now.

"Did you forget that quickly?" She asks. The noise around my slowly dissipates, leaving me in silence. Why won't they help me?

。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。

I sit up looking at my alarm clock. I slept through it again. I pull the covers off and step onto the cold floor of the room. I look up at the mirror seeing the same face I do everyday.

"Noah are you still asleep? Hurry up and get ready" a woman's voice rings out from downstairs. I roll my eyes grabbing my towel and heading to the bathroom. Today marks nine years of me living here. It my so said birthday. When they had found me I was basically dead. All I knew was my age and name. Well what I thought was my age. I walk out of the bathroom squeaky clean heading to my room for a change of clothing. I sigh changing into a hoodie and pants. I head downstairs my mother flipping an egg.

"Your lunch is on the table, oh and what do you want for dinner tonight?" She asks turning to me. I avert eye contact grabbing my lunch.

"It doesn't matter I won't be home till late as usual" I mutter.

"Okay I'll just put yours in the fridge for when you return" she wonders over to my side fixing my bag.

"Sure that'll do" I grab my homework off a desk as she passes me my backpack lunch installed already I shove my work in there and slip it on my back.

"Have a nice day Noah" she coos. I run putt the door making my way down a street. I don't like her. I don't feel safe. She's smiles and treats me kindly but...it feels like a front. I mean it probably is. I'm a burden, they probably wish to get ride of me. I walk through a long winding trail through some backwoods. I grumble to myself as I rustle through the leaves. I'm sixteen now! Just two more years and I'm out!!! I fist bump the sky trying to be enthusiastic. Quickly I trip over a root tumbling down a hill. I pop my head back up before standing. Ugh. So stupid.

"Are you okay?" Someone asks as I jump.

"Oh yes I am!" I shout stepping back.

"That's good~" they answer. I look up to a white haired teen. Great a weird one. You don't get to many of the hair dyed kids around here.

"Oh sorry my hair...it must be weird I'm a tourist" he explains.

"I can tell..." I say becoming suspicious of him now.

"This town is known for its elitist school" his smile seems off when he speaks. I shuffle my feet looking away.

"Well thanks for your concern but if I'm not gone, like pronto I'm going to be late for that 'elitist' school" I roll my eyes turning away.

"See you around" he calls out I turn to face him once more but he's no where to be found. Great maybe it was a magical unicorn.

I rush the rest of my way to the train station just making it onto the train ride. It's a short ride but crucial to me making it on time to school. Enter my class landing in my desk with a thud. I place my binder onto the desk and grabbing my textbook from my bag.

"Morning Noah" My friends words sneak up on me as I jump a bit again.

"Morning Arin" my tone is a little on the annoyed side as he plops a birthday card on my deals.

"It is your birthday right?" He asks and I shake my head no.

"It is the day I was found half dead..." he shrugs taking a seat beside me. The day goes by in its monotonous tone.

I walk back to the train station that weird teen from before waiting at the bottom of a staircase. I gawk at him for a few seconds before noticing his partner as they lean on the wall. I step back feeling nothing but dread and fear.

I can't go this way...

Why am I so frightened!? It's not like I know them. I'm about to turn the other way when the white haired man notices me. A sickening smile growing on his face.

"Oh it's you from this morning" he calls out through the crowd, "I really didn't expect to see you again!" His cheerful voice seems off put as the other boy stares at me as if in shock. They begin their walk towards me as I'm frozen in place.

"W-who are you ?" I ask his smile growing.

"I already told you, we're tourists" I bolt from my spot dodging them and running for the platform my train pulling in. "How rude..." the younger boy comments as we make eye contact. I stare into my own eyes, before letting a startled squeak leave my past my lips. I continue my mad dash straight for the train.

I tumble in hitting the seat as I land. I look up seeing the two males standing there just watching me, as if they were just checking things. I whimper, noticing that there expressions had changed from an unnerving smile to disappointment.

"We'll see you around next time..." my look alike mumbles as the doors close. Slowly the train begins to move and I finally let out a breath.

I open the door to my home and walk straight up to my room shutting the door before sliding to the floor. I grip my head confused by my encounter today.

Could they have been one of those creatures? But I was taught this was a safe zone. Hunters watch this place 24/7.
Unless!? I grip my head tight shaking it.

"Ughhhh! I never thought I'd have to deal with an attack here!" I shout probably creating a commotion downstairs. Vampires, creatures who hunt us. Some of them can live among us while others are blacklisted and hunted down. Why would they appear here? I stand throwing my backpack onto my desk and plopping myself on my bed.

I'm going crazy how nice. I close my eyes just wanting the day to pass. I immediately open them before sitting up again. If only it were that easy. I walk downstairs. My mother in the kitchen putting some leftover on a plate for me.

"Oh you came down to eat?" She asks and I nods, "what's wrong?" She asks again putting the plate o the table.

"Do you think you could drive me to school tomorrow?" I ask as she pauses.

"What? I thought you wanted to be independent?" She remarks shaking her head.

"I mean you don't have too..." I look away as she grabs some utensils.

"Don't tell my your silly fear of vampires has come back?" She asks I look down not wanting to answer that one.

"I-I-" I begin to stutter not knowing how to answer it.

"Oh dearest me how many times must I tell you this town is one of the safest in the country" she giggles at the end as if finding my fear cute and funny. I exhale deeply not wanting to tell her about my encounter today.

"P-please!?" I shout as she shakes her head.

"Hah, you have to get over this fear of yours, we're safe, and only vampires with a clear history can enter" she pats her cheek before yawning.

"F-fine" I mumble heading back upstairs.

"Uh, Noah! Wait what about dinner?!" She asks as I keep walking up the staircase.

"I'm not going to eat today!" I shout back.

"But it's your birthday? I cooked your favourite!" I slam my door before plopping back down onto my bed.

"I am going to die tomorrow...on that trail..." I mumble finally resting.
