I remember a time long ago, when everyone was happy. When mom was alive, before dad grew distant and Cinder ran away. Everything was perfect then. We had everything we needed in each other, and the rest of our pack. But after mom died... Things changed.

"Daddy, where's Cinder? Why did she act like that? What did she mean?" Fang whimpered as she and her brother Tovu trembled in front of their father. Atum closed his eyes and shook his head. "I... Don't worry about it, sweetie. I'm sure it's nothing."

"But she said she was going to hurt someone... What does that mean? And Daddy, why did Rusco leave with her?"

Fang's father stiffened, and he gritted his teeth. "Rusco was the one who made her leave in the first place, Fang." He quickly shook his head. "Don't worry about it. Just go to your nest and sleep."

Fang opened her mouth to object, but a stern look from her father silenced her. She scurried along to her nest, closely followed by Tovu. "Oh, Tovu." Fang whimpered as the two pups buried themselves in the nest. "What's happening?"

Screams echoed through the air as foreign wolves poured into the camp. Blood covered the streets, and bodies lay strewn everywhere. Atum felt panic rising in his chest as he glanced around frantically. He had to get Fang and Tovu out of here safely, otherwise-

"Well if it isn't my dear old father." A sneer came from behind him. Atum slowly turned to face a smirking Cinder. "Cinder. Why are you doing this."

Cinder cackled. "You know why. You'd never pick me to be the next Chief. We all know Tovu was the top choice, him being the only he-pup in the family, and all. So I found my own way to rule a pack."

    "By murdering your family?"

"By tying up loose ends, and forever proving that I really am the strongest wolf in this pack. Me and Rusco, we're gonna be the best Alphas that ever lived." Cinder stood tall and proud, then crouched and grinned sinisterly. "Ready to die, old wolf?"

Atum narrowed his eyes and took a defensive stance. "Not a chance."

Cinder gritted her teeth and launched herself at him, but Atum easily dodged. "You know you can't win a fight against me, Cinder."

A cruel smile grew on Cinder's face. "Well then, it's a good thing I've got backup."

Atum blinked, then whirled around just in time to get pounced on by Rusco. Atum snarled and clawed at the young wolf, but was no match for him. After only a few seconds of flailing, Atum froze and looked down. His neck was ripped open. He felt blood rising in his throat as he coughed. Cinder approached, a wicked smile on her face. "Told you I could beat you, Daddy." She spat.

Atum tried to respond, but his eyes crossed and his words slurred as he drifted off into unconsciousness. Rusco raised his tail proudly and glanced at Cinder. "Alright, Cind. Who's next?"

"The rotten he-pup. Tovu. And his twin, Fang. Find them, and drag their sorry carcasses up here so they can rest in pieces with their father." Cinder growled.

Rusco nodded and the two rushed down into the main cave to find the pups.

"Fang? Why isn't Daddy back yet?" Tovu whimpered, his eyes wide with fear. Fang tried to keep a brave look on her face, but her heart was beating madly. She was terrified. "I... I don't know, Tovu. I'm sure he's on his way... Hey! Did you hear that? That's probably him right now!"

Tovu and Fang crept from their hiding place and peeked out, glancing around for their father. "That sounds like... Two sets of paws." Fang gulped and backed back into the hiding place. "Tovu, I think you should-"

"They're in here. I can hear them." Cinder snarled.

Fang froze. Her brother was out in the open. "Tovu!" She yelped, then slapped a paw over her mouth. Tovu tried to back in, but it was too late. He was pinned beneath Rusco's paws. "Where's the other one?" Rusco growled.

"That crack in the wall, probably. I'll hold Tovu, you claw her out of there." Cinder harshly picked Tovu up, and he yelped as her teeth sunk into his ruff. Fang tried to squish herself as far back against the wall as she could, but it was to no avail. Rusco easily dragged her out and picked her up. "Let me go! Stop!" Fang wailed. "Cinder, what are you doing?"

Cinder smiled, but didn't respond.  She turned and let the way out of the cavern, and up a winding set of stairs to the cliff where her father liked to stand and look over the camp. "Why are you-" Fang went silent as her eyes settled on her Father's limp and bloody form. "Dad!" She wailed and tried to get away from Rusco.

Rusco dropped her, and she rushed to her father's pelt. She buried her face in his fur, inhaling his scent. She felt Tovu doing the same beside her. "Alright, pups. Are you ready to see mommy and daddy in heaven?" Cinder grinned, then pounced forward, pinning both pups between her paws. Fang shrieked and flailed about, but Tovu lay frozen in fear. Fang's eyes widened as Cinder's jaws descended onto her brother, easily slitting his neck. Tovu's eyes blinked, then slowly darkened. "Tovu! No!" Fang wailed.

"You're turn, little sister." Cinder growled as she snapped her teeth towards Fang. Fang yelped, then rolled to the side. Cinder yelped in surprise as she was thrown off balance, and her eyes flashed with surprise, then fury. She flung her paw at Fang and raked her claws through Fang's side. Fang shrieked in agony and froze as Cinder grinned and tilted her head. "Fighting isn't as fun when you lose, is it, Fang?" She chuckled, then snapped her jaws around Fang's neck. Fang groaned, and her eyes fluttered as she drifted into unconsciousness.
