Six months later...
Darcy has grown a lot since her birth. She's basically the spitting image of her sperm donor father. Bright green eyes, plump lips, and even has some curly brown locks already growing in.
The one thing her and her other daddy Louis have in common... when they're upset, all they want is Harry.
Like this morning.
Louis is just trying to be a dear, and let his husband catch a few extra snoozing minutes in bed while he attempts to change Darcy's nappy, but she is not having it.
Yes, she loves Louis, he always makes her laugh, but when she's screaming at the top of her lungs for food or a nappy change, Harry's soothing slow voice is the only thing that calms her down.
"Come on Darcy, love, you gotta at least try to work with me here. I'm trying to be nice to your other daddy by letting him sleep in a bit, don't you wanna be nice too?"
Clearly not.
For her wailing cries only increase.
And before Louis can attempt again to do anything about it, Harry is already entering Darcy's nursery.
"Alright angel, shh, your favorite is here," Harry coos at her in a whisper, making sweet little shushing sounds as he makes his way over to the changing table, where Louis has desperately tried (and failed) to change her nappy.
"Excuse me?!" Louis exclaims a little louder than maybe he should have, for Darcy's crying increase again in volume.
"Shh, I'm just kidding, Lou." He gives a quick; sweet kiss to his husband's lips. "I got this. Go ahead and wake up Freddie, if he isn't awake already."
Louis smiles, nodding, and as he's about to turn out of the room, he can't help stop in his tracks, and swoon over the new sight in front of him.
Darcy's stopped crying, completely, and Harry is pretty much talking to her, their six month old, as if she's a full grown adult as he changes her nappy.
"Well, good morning to you. I've heard you were quite the screamer this morning, hm? What's got you so upset? Let's see... oh my! You've made quite a mess of this nappy. Now I understand. Let's get this fixed up for you, alright? There we go, all better see! So, the weather is going to be a bit breezy today, so I would suggest some pants and a sweater to wear, what do you think? And for breakfast, maybe the applesauce? Sound good?"
Every child has that one parent they're a bit closer with. It doesn't mean they love that parent more than the other, but every child has a special bond with one particular parent. And for Darcy, that was Harry.
And Louis is okay with that. Because that's him and Freddie.
Since Freddie was born, he's always had a special bond with Louis. One always doing something to make the other laugh. And when one is upset, they can count on the other for cheering them up with a silly face or even just a smile.
Freddie also loves and is absolutely fascinated with Darcy. Always running up to see her, whether she was happy or sad. Always bringing her toys to play with, and giving her cuddles and kisses as often as he can.
And to Harry and Louis, it's so perfect.
Freddie and Darcy.
Their two perfect babies.
And they don't think they'll ever seem to grasp how in the world they got so lucky...
With first each other...
And then two mini versions of themselves.
With this new perfect little girl as an addition to their family...
It's all simply perfect.
