Where did the world come from? God, or science? Where did humans come from? God, or science? many people would have you believe God, but I dont really see the difference. Is not it all just a question of faith? If someone were to take the science and theory of evolution just as seriously as a Christian's belief in God, why then are the two people not considered equal?I am not an atheist, and have nothing against any form of religion but I honestly don't understand the idea of one belief being superior to the others.
Throughout history there have been many examples and events that have pushed one religions creditability ahead of an others. From people "communicating with God", to people remembering their past lives, to the viewings of ghost, people have done anything to prove that they are correct in their belief. This leads me to my main point. How do you sort the real from the fake when it comes to supernatural events? You can not simply take everything that someone says for truth. If I were to argue with one of my friends I would be willing to say anything to prove my point or win the argument. Can we really believe that priests, Buddhas, and monks are any different? I will again say that I am not trying to be rude or narcissistic but am only trying to make you think. When you are reading this, I really hope that you keep an open mind. If you look at modern religions you will see many similarities. For example Christmas, the "birth of Christ", is actually the winter solstice. The idea of celebrating the winter solstice originates to ancient Pagan beliefs. Also it has been said that the birth of Christ happened sometime in April, not in December.
When did one man become better than another? Ever since prehistoric times people have had the idea that some qualities are more favorable then others. In ancient times the strongest males of a clan or tribe were the highest in society. In other places it was the tribe elders that were considered to be above the rest of the clan. Humans are prone to judgement, and that is okay. It is not the fact that people are judgemental as much as the fact that they act on these judgements that has caused so much friction amoung the human race. It is not the fact that the strong man is appreciated more than the weak man that is the problem. It is when the strong man chooses to be violent to the weak man, or the clan and or tribe outcasts the not as strong man.
It is the same with religion. As Christianity, Roman Catholicism, Islam, WIcca, and other religions started to become better funded by city-states, and the ancient civilizations, rivalary amoung the religions lead to the belief that one faith was better than the other. This in turn lead to events like the Holocaust, and the Witchunts. The point of this "essay" was just to get you thinking about the way that you act on your judgements. I am asking you to think before you speak or act upon something that you can't prove.
