She couldn't tear her eyes from the figure. The man who was riding the strange creature... Raena couldn't meet his stare, half of his face was covered by a red kerchief but there was something in the way he was leading that strange horse ... Raena quickly understood she wasn't safe in that forest, Nafthan and Khala weren't probably too. She had to find them, she had to make sure they were safe. Without a backward glance, without hesitation, Raena ran for their usual place. She was very close to their tents when the earth beneath her feet trembled, cold winds tore at her and last she saw was darkness as her legs stopped working and her chest rising.
Raena's eyes opened to a illuminated enviroment. Her vision was blurred. Was she dreaming? Raena tried to not roll her eyes at the thought. Of course she wasn't, her whole body was aching for more than two reasons. She tried to remember what had happened, after two minutes, she was instantly on her feet. A mess happened, probably the apocalypse, and for once she was unprepared. Wrong. Completely unaccettable. Her hands searched for the knives usually hidden in her boots. There was nothing. Fantastic. Everything was silent, thieves were no more screaming, or looking for a safe place. Strange.
Lights yet darkness were the only signs of their entry, as silent as cats. She watched as two tall figures, walking out from the darkness of the night, headed slowly for her. From that darkness came an amused, low laugh. She knew she had to take her ass somewhere safe, but safety was an optional, especially in the thieves land, where everyone had to kill the other one to receive complete safety, at least for a day.
They were now right in front of her.
The tall man on the left raised his head first, she recognized him by red kerchief that was covering half of his tan face, Raena winced as he untied the kerchief. A different type of beauty. He had long, dark-blue and straight hair. His jawline was sharp and his eyes... instead of walking away, Raena walked slowly closer to the smiling stranger. "What's in your left eye?" she asked out of pure curiosity, it was a uncommon pupil he had. The man blinked thrice, she could have sworn that the hidden man behind him, grinned twice.
"Are you really telling me you're amazed by the planet I've portrayed in my eye and not by my beauty?" he spoke with an air of superiority, voice deep, that made Raena see red for a moment. She was not in the mood for arrogant bastards, not when it seemed the world was punishing her for something she had most likely done, but she ignored his rhetorical question anyways, "Answer my question" she hissed
"If you answer mine first" the arrogant man hissed as well, crossing his muscular arms. His hands were covered in black gloves, she noticed. He was wearing a black armour, that was sign of war in her land. She had to find Nafthan and Khala as soon as possible and get that man out of their territory. The man behind the stranger sighed sadly at random, and without meeting her stare he took a step forward, to whisper something in the ear of the jerk in front of her. His face was covered by a blue kerchief instead. Raena stiffened as the arrogant man swallowed hard
"You want to know where your companions are?" he demanded, his grin vanished
"Logically I do" Raena replied asking herself if the man behind him, couldn't in fact, read other people's minds... she didn't believe in coincidences, not at all.
"Come with us." The man on the left said immediately, without hesitation. She was more than ready to open her mouth just to shut his mouth, he wasn't making sense. They were strangers. But then, the silent man on his right, untied his blue kerchief to reveal a face as handsome as the one on his left . They looked like twins, but his eyes, very dark eyes, were shiny with tears. He smiled, a rare but happy smile. No one ever smiled at her like that.
"I'm a prince, he's my Brother, a King. He owns a planet. I can't tell you what we are or you would run and never look back, neither to find your companions." the dark prince smiled as he looked up at the stars, then wiped the tears off "Earth is such a lovely place, a precious place" his voice was low and hoarse. He was telling her that the jerk now behind him was a king. And he was a prince.
The dark king nodded behind him "You forgot the most important part, little, emotional Brother" he giggled at his own words. "She must come with us because I have her adorable and grumpy companions, and war is coming in these lands. Humanity and curiosity" he shook his head, "Bad beasts". Raena wasn't sure she was breathing at all.
The prince suddenly vanished.
Without warning her first, without even saying a word about his missing Brother, the young king gently grabbed her hands "And while we're at it, my name is not jerk" he whispered in her ear.
For Khala, for Nafthan, for her thieves... She could do it. For them she could have died.
So she shut her eyes as they disappeared into the night, full sky.
