Luna left her workplace, the small cafe, not far from her house. She began walking down the street. It had never rained this much or at least that's what she thought. Pulling the old jacket tighter around her small frame she continued to make her way back home.
The wind brought a lot more water to her face than the rain itself, so her vision wasn't the greatest. And affected by this, she didn't saw as a car drove dangerously close to a puddle of water. She didn't make it on time to get away from the water, so the next thing she knows she's soaked.
"Hey, you! Are you okay?" the driver of the car yelled to her.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I was going to be soaked either way when I was getting home." Luna responded.
"I can drive you to your house if you want." he suggested. "So you aren't sick on the next day."
"I mean, I guess it could be alright." Luna said as the driver opened the passenger seat's door to the shivering girl.
"I'm Matteo, by the way." he said and Luna smiled. "Luna."
"You have very beautiful name." Matteo said and Luna tried to resist the blush that crept onto her cheeks.
"Thank you." Luna said and fidgeted her fingers. "I live in the next street." she continued as she noticed how quickly they had driven.
"Okay." Matteo said and somehow stopped right at Luna's apartment complex.
"Thanks for the ride." Luna started, but stopped herself before saying 'see you around', because she realized, she might never see him again.
"No problem. Bye." Matteo said as Luna closed the door and made her way to the door. Matteo looked at her back just for awhile before speeding away.
Luna took off her jacket and plopped down on her bed. She lived alone in a old apartment with two rooms. In one corner of the bigger room she had a little kitchen and other corner she had her bed. She also had small sitting area, but she was planning to sell it. She didn't use it and she was needing that extra money. The other room was just a small bathroom.
Laying down on her bed, her cat came to beg petting. She took the cat on her lap and remembered the day they had met.
Luna had walked home after school, as always, when she crossed paths with this beautiful almost fully black cat. Afterwards she thinks that she fell in love with the cat, because it was an orphan and all alone just like Luna.
"Will you stop hitting me with your paw?" she laughed and started petting her cat.
Luna fell in her memories again and remembered the day. The day when her whole life changed. She was only five at that time, but events like this will be in your mind for the longest of times. The weather was stormy and Luna was with her parents, driving home from some kind of fancy dinner party. Their driver couldn't see much and it was incredibly dangerous to drive, but Luna's dad had made the decision that they were going home. Oh, how Luna wishes that her dad wasn't so stubborn.
One car had to dodge a cat, so it slipped to the other line of the road. To avoid the collision their driver tried to stop the car. But with no use. They got into a car crash and Luna remembers how her mother had wrapped herself around Luna, so she could survive, and because of this Luna survived and her mother didn't. Everybody had died except Luna and oh, how she wishes that she could've gone with them and not have to stay down on the earth, all alone.
But no matter how much Luna missed her parents she still didn't try to do something stupid to make her leave this world. Her mother wouldn't want that, there was a reason why she saved Luna's life and not hers. She wanted Luna to grow up and explore the world like she had.
