Remington James lightly stroked the smiling face of the women in small framed picture in her hand before pulling on her sleeve and using it to wipe the tear drop that had fell on the clear glass protecting the picture inside, she turned twenty-four today and was celebrating it the way she always had in a pool of self-loath and despair, fat tears rolled down her face as she cried and released the pain from everything that ate at her soul, she cried for the mother she never knew, she cried for her dearly departed grandparents, she cried for the man she loves but most importantly she cried for the girl in the mirror, the one whose light eyes but a dark heart, the girl whose smile pulls you in and distracts while her hands rob you blind, she cried because she made that girl and no one else can shoulder the blame for how she is.

Remi was pulled out of her thoughts as she heard violent knocking on her door, she couldn't even make her body get angry at the fact that someone had the audacity to break her number one rule, nobody is to disturb her on her birthday, the earth could be falling and she still expected to be left alone, she stood up from her living room couch and dried her face with her sleeve, it wasn't mach help since her face was still marked with tear streaks and red eyes, she pulled open the door and came face to face with a very angry Ranee who pushed her back into her home then slammed the door before stomping into the living room which forced a very confused Remi to follow her, when Remi got into the room Ranee was pacing and mumbling to herself leading Remi to clear her throat in order to catch Renee attention, the moment she did she regretted it because Remi turned and growled at her

"A contract Remington, you fucking forced him to marry you with a contract and you never told me, do you know how huge of a mess you made."

"Renee I..."

"Please save whatever fucking lie you have because--"

Renee dug into back pocket pulled out her phone tapped and scrolled until she got what she wanted, she then turned the screen towards Remi

"--I have proof"

Remi pulled the phone from Renee's hands and she looked at what appeared to be a very clear picture of resurrection contract except this person isn't taking ownership of half the company like you usually do in resurrection contracts, it seems like one party is just giving the other money what made the contract odd is the marriage contract in between, her eyes instantly shot to the bottom of the page where five signatures sat, her grandpa, Adonis's father, and lawyer's, Adonis's and finally hers in a neat elegant scral that completely covered the line. It all finally made sense, every time he said she bought him, she always assumed he meant she used her influence to ruin his relationship all those little moments she never counted as anything, even his proposal made more sense

With a shake of her hair and a quick swipe of chapstick Remington pushed open the wide double doors of her room, she looked over to her butler and nodded her head, letting him know that he could invite the boy waiting for her downstairs up, she walked back to her bed and sat down, she was forcing herself to not be fidgety,what could Adonis Roe be doing at her home at 12:00 at night, this will ether end in pleasure or in pain, her head snapped towards the doors as they were pulled open and in entered the man of the hour and if the tight scowl etched on his face meant anything she was guessing this night is going to end in pain, he walked closer to her until he stood he stood in front of her for a second before getting on his knees, one knee touching the floor and one knee facing Remi, he dug into his pants pockets and pulled out a red velvet box at the sight of it Remi jumped back crawling backward on her bed and not giving a damn that her silk night gown and matching silk robe was sliding up her body, Adonis rolled his eyes at her reaction, like she wasn't expecting it, who wears silk to sleep if they aren't expecting company .

"I don't have all night Remington because contrary to popular believe I am a human being and I require sleep, take the ring so I can go home."
