It was a beautiful night, I, Arthur Collingwood, was at my recently inherited mansion. Outside, it was freezing cold, a great thunderstorm was putting on a marvellous show. Lightnings shone in the distance as strong as the lights of the coming trains, thunders roared like lions, the gales stomped on the old bow windows adding some extraordinary noises from the ancient wooden door.
I got up from my chair and walked on the creaking floor to the fireplace. I asked my butler to bring me the big green book that was on the small table as I relaxed a while on the velvet sofa.
"Green" I thought. "Why must everything be green and golden here? Why did my ancestors choose this?" I asked myself one more time the same rhetorical question I wondered about every single night.
The precious book was placed on my lap, ready for me to devour it on such a lovely evening. "The Rose" it was called.
However, to my surprise, inside it there was a sketch of a beautiful woman in green clothing, with a golden necklace on her neck. I stared at it for a while: the woman had a beauty that was out of this world, certainly, big green eyes, dark eyebrows which conveyed a very intense and attractive gaze, long brown hairs, curling nearing the ends, pale skin and a slim yet curvy body that resembled and hourglass. She seemed to be young, a few years younger than me, eighteen maybe.
"She would already be my wife" I mumbled full of desire and passion.
Suddenly, the necklace called my attention, I paralyzed and rushed upstairs, revised my drawers and found it: the same gold necklace the woman wore. I remember my father bought it in an antiques shop for an anniversary with my mother, now they've both passed away in an accident with their ship, and now this mansion and what is in it is all mine. I turned to the mirror, I saw myself, with my perfectly fixed caramel blonde hair, my fair skin, my plump body dressed up with my brownish waistcoat, my white shirt and my black trousers. I smiled, I was really attractive. All of a sudden my heart stopped and the happy expression of my face vanished the moment I saw the woman of the drawing right next to me.
"W-Who are y-you" I asked in a trembling voice, the sudden event was numbing my legs so I fell to the floor as soon as I had finished my question.
"Some call me Aphrodite, in Rome I'm Venus, but I prefer to be Janette, just like your father used to call me." Explained the beautiful lady. I was so confused I collapsed, but she held me and informed me she had been my father's affair while he was abroad in France, he had also been her doctor while she suffered from pneumonia and accompanied her until the end.
"How is this necklace here spectrum?" I inquired.
"I gave it to your father before I died, he never really bought it, I've been trying to find it for so long..."
"Here it is! Go away and leave me alone!" I cried.
"Are you sure you just want me to disappear?" She pronounced with a seductive voice as she caressed under my chin and pressed her breasts to my chest.
I bit my lower lip, I heard my butler's steps rushing upstairs. The gorgeous apparition took the necklace out of my hand and kissed my lips, I answered the kiss eagerly, then she whispered to my ear she'd come back to spend some more time with me. By the moment my butler reached the room the lady was already gone.
