It was the last day of school, and despite everyone being happy for the summer, I was bummed and there was a cold weight inside my stomach as every hour passed. Luckily, I had to do something after school, so there was extra time to stay here, at my temporary safe house. Eventually, it had become the last hour, 7th hour, my hour of band. The last week I mainly hung out with Dustin, and my friends could tell something was up. But, I decided to stay with my friends today. Dustin understood this, thankfully, and hung out with his.
"So, can you wait for band camp??" Isabelle asked. I shook my head.
"I really don't wanna go," Karen said. "Too busy."
"I think it will be fun." Shawna commented.
"Well, we'll get to see each other again, so that'll be fun. And hey, you'll be by your man-candy," I said, pointing the last sentence towards Isabelle. "And Karen, HENRY WILL BE THERE!" Karen rolled her eyes at my reply towards her. Henry was her ex-boyfriend, but they broke up for a stupid reason. I'm pretty sure Henry still had feelings for Karen, though, as I've caught him looking at her several times before. Sometimes he even strikes up a conversation as if nothing had happened to htem before.
The band teacher had got onto the podium and we went to our respective instruments. After we played, we packed up, I went to the choir room, as I had something to do in there. The choir students were still in there, but I had to talk to the president of the entire student council... Dom. Since I was practically her pupil in learning for drumline next year, our band teacher thought it would be fun to assign me her errand girl. Now, I had to discuss the band budgets for after-school things. Apparently, the school system thinks it's a good idea to leave things up with the student council, instead of officially handling things, which is rather stupid. But hey, at least it gives the students the on-hand experience of decisive decision making and finances.
"Hello," I said, maintaining a professional look. I didn't show any emotion besides that, but Dom did. He wore a wicked smile that would surprise everyone, though no one was looking. "Hello my dear. What have you came for?"
"We need to discuss the band budget for next year's after school activies not funded by the school, also for repairs.," I said and Dom nodded. "Okay, how about $500?"
I flinched at his bold offer and nodded. Usually the band only got a $200 budget, thus fundraisers were essential. But this was much more than we expected, and made me giddy at the thought of what we could accomplish. I knew that the only reason he said that was because of me, though, and it made me worry.
"Hey, could you come with me?" He asked, getting up. "I need to talk to you about how we're going to spend this band money, and it's so loud in here I can't even hear you." I hesitantly nodded. The band teacher said to answer all and any questions about the band budget, to see if we actually deserved it. I couldn't back down.
He lead me out of the choir room and we stood in the hallway behind the choir room, that lead to other parts of the highschool. There was no one there, sadly, in case of something happening. "So, what was your class planning on spending it?" He asked.
"Like we're supposed to, for non-school funded events and repairs."
"Wait, wait, we never agreed on repairs."
"That's what Ms. Smith said." I shrugged.
Dom sighed. "Oh well, do what you want dear."
I glared at him and didn't say anything, turning and beginning to walk away from him. But, for some reason he doesn't want me to leave, ever.
Suddenly, he grabbed me around the waist and stood there, then whispered, "come with me." Weirded out, I broke free from his grasp and turned around to face him. "Like hell I will!" I said angrily, then the bell rang. Kids poured out of the classrooms as Jelly released his grip on me. But, he then grabbed my wrist and led me through the halls. For some reason, I didn't break free and just followed him down the halls until we got to the student council room. The room was vast and empty.
We both just stood there, and for a moment it was if nothing had happened, and we were actually friends, clueless as to what to do. But then my feelings came back and worry twisted in my stomach. I shouldn't be here.
Eventually, Dom sat down in a black chair at a round white table. There were several other black chairs surrounding the same table and I hesitantly took one, very unsure of what to do. I wasn't even sure why I was staying here. Maybe just so I could like hurt him or something.
"I'm surprised you stayed so long," Dom said, amusement in his voice.
"Oh, I'm just sitting here, planning how to destroy you," I say with a sly smile.
Dom smiled. "Ooh, how interesting. I'll enjoy that sight."
I sighed and got up, annoyed. Dom also got up and grabbed my wrists once again.
"Oh, don't go. You know you love me~"
I scowled at him and walked away. As I reached the door, my hands pressed to it -as there was no door handle-, I stopped and turned back to look at him. There was something I wanted to say, but the thought hadn't quite formulated when I acted, so I was standing there like a dumbass, just staring at him.
"Like what you see, eh?" Dom remarked, walking up to me. I frowned and began to push open the door, but Dom took my hands quickly and began to do an old, slow dance with me, twirling me around. I glared at him the entire time.
I let him do as he liked, he was moving me around so much there was no chance to be able to hit him. Maybe, I could even act like I liked him then trick him. I don't like him being so close to me.
"Don't you like dancing?" Dom asked, smiling. I shook my head, my glare unfaltering. Dom ignored my harsh look and continued on talking, "I love dancing, because the world is just spinning but you and your partner are the only things you can really see and focus on. It's beautiful." He said softly, then slowly stopped dancing. Our hands were still clasped together as we stood there, but our expressions didn't change. I don't know what I was doing just standing there, but soon enough I broke free and stomped towards the door again. Dom didn't chase over me, he just stood there, watching me go.
I got to the door and this time, I fully pushed it open. There was no one in the hallways around me, and I'm pretty sure the buses had already left. This didn't mind me, though, as I could just walk home. As I got a few steps away from the room, Dom exited and began walking next to me. I tried to outpace him but he kept up with me. Eventually, he turned and went his own way down a hall, and I sighed in relief. I then decided to quickly head home, before anything else could happen to me.
