I was having a ceremony for my seventeenth birthday, which meant I finally get my wings. It was the best day of my life! We had fun because we ate cake, played some games, and sang the traditional angel song.
My cake was strawberry flavored, it was decorated with red frosting and had sprinkles; almost like a giant cupcake. The games we played were childish, such as hot potato and kick ball.
Our traditional song was what helped my wings grow out, it went something like this:
First comes left, then comes right
We all get together, late at night.
Singing our songs, dancing along.
Joining together, being here is better.
Wings come out, bursting free.
Let me live, let me be.
White, grey or black.
They grow out of my back.
Quickly now, let‘s take a bow.
Wings come out, bursting free.
Let me live, let me be.
White, grey or black.
They grow out of my back.
No time to waste, let’s pick up the pace.
After that we all went home. I was tired, but it was a good night. I couldn’t believe my wings finally grew out. I was now considered an adult! Well, in Celestial City anyways. On earth I would still be a teenager. Earth. I couldn’t wait. I heard amazing stories of it nearly everyday. There was never a bad things said, well that’s a lie. I heard their world was dying. It was a sad thought, but I didn’t want to be sad. I rested my head on my pillow and fell asleep.
The next day I got to explore earth, while in Celestial City my mom showed me how to hide my wings for my time on earth. She also taught me how to speak their language, because here we speak German and they speak English. It was hard at first, but I got use to it because it was similar. (Angels are also really fast learners.)
I was now ready. I couldn’t wait to see what waited for me in this new world.
