I feel bad that I haven’t properly seen Cassie since I have gotten back, but she wants me to get a boyfriend more than I do, so she will be okay, especially if he can hook her up with some guys from her favourite boy band. Liam texts me back saying he is. I'm excited to see him tomorrow, in a friend way of course.
I wake up the next day with a soft thing hitting me in the face. I groan, was that a pillow? Oh god what was that that just landed on my body? It’s hard and bony. I open my eyes to see Cassie’s face right up in mine with her hair everywhere.
“Wake up! We are going for a girls breakfast.” I smile as I think of the girls who I have missed since going to LA.
We all burst out in laughter as Michelle finishes another hilarious story. This time she was trying to slowly remove herself from a random hook-ups arms in his bed when she extended her arm too long and broke his lamp waking him up. Michelle is a very awkward and clumsy person. We all say she is a midget trapped in her model length body, she never realises how far she stretches until she bangs or breaks something. She can laugh at herself and turn the incidents into funny stories which is good.
Once we all have gotten over the hilariousness of Michelle’s story and continue eating, Lucy puts a strand of her blonde bob behind her ear and says,
“So Ella, how’s the love life.” She looks at me expectantly, a small smirk playing on her face. Could she know? I know Lucy has read more gossip articles than actual books, but I haven’t been featured yet, have I? I know I am being a shitty friend and I should tell them, but we aren’t serious yet and he just happens to sort of be a member of the world’s biggest boy band, the only thing being bigger is my friends’ mouths. I can’t tell them, not yet. I look to Cassie to signal to her not to tell them, but Cassie is terrible at keeping secrets. Sure if it is a big thing, she won’t tell anyone, but something connected to boys and she may as well yell it from a megaphone, she probably would if she had a megaphone.
Lucy looks between Cassie and I and raises her eyebrow expediently. Michelle looks at the three of us and to Jenna, who looks at us confused. While Jenna is the leading scientist in her research project on some bacteria that could be a cure to some cancers, she lacks the intelligence in the social world, falling behind on conversations and gossip. It’s easy for her, she has her scientist fiancée Adam, lucky girl. She just looks around confused.
“Ella’s dating Liam Payne!” Cassie squeals. I look around to make sure no one else heard. No one else in the restaurant seemed to care so I give Cassie an ‘I’ll-kill-you-later’ look. Michelle’s jaw is on the floor, Lucy is smiling but with disbelief written on all of her features, clearly having heard something but not believing it. Lucy just smiles at me in a ‘congratulations on getting a boyfriend way.’ She is more into older music, her only contemporary music being Ed Sheeran.
“We are not dating,” Everyone gives me a ‘cut the bullshit’ look, even Jenna.
“We are just seeing each other as friends.” They all look at me with shock and ask for an explanation. I tell them the whole plane story and what happened all the way up to last night. They all nod and take it in. Michelle then speaks,
“Ok, one question. Why aren’t you jumping his bones right now?” We all laugh, what can I say about my friends? Lucy then asks,
“But seriously, why don’t you want to go on a date with him?” Cassie and I share a glance. They all know about my mother, but Lucy doesn’t get very emotional and I doubt Jenna even remembers. Michelle understands how it has affected me, but I still can’t tell her as much as I can tell Cassie. I don't really want to talk about my issue with relationships now, so I make up something about his fame and how I don’t want it affecting me. That is also an issue. I don’t want to have to deal with more Tiffanys and Katies like at the airport. Also no matter how confident I am, it isn’t a great feeling knowing millions of girls are throwing themselves at him and that they hate me.
