The early morning dew lay fresh on the grass. I walked into the bandhall to see Keith,Bill,Patricia, and I were waiting for instructions when the door opened and a small girl walked into the bandhall. Rachel, a short, girl with bright, blue eyes. Her short, dirty blonde hair with pink ends was put into a ponytail swayed as she walked. Her blue glasses glared as she walked into the bright bandhall, compared to the dim morning. She stood behind me quietly. I didn't know her as much as I knew other people. We talked a lot when we were younger because we rode the same bus, but after that she strayed away and I hadn't spoke to her since.
"Hey Sara," she spoke softly.
"Hi," I said back very akwardly. Like I said I hadn't spoken to her in years,so I was very surprized.
Just as I was about to attempt to start a conversation the wood block was stricken and we all turned our attention to the podium.

We decided to put up the canopies that morning just to have something to do and to be helpful, have the band administrators have one less thing to do. The canopies were put up around a tall tower overshadowing the practice field(the large high school parking lot but with feild lines). The high schoolers started running beside where we were because they had to run around campus before they started marching.I heaved the canopies on my shoulder and put them in a random place. One of the canopies was broken on one side so we improvised and put a pencil I  had in my backpack in the hole make it work.
After we were done we watched the remaining runners pass by and we cheered them on and saying they needed to keep going. They run into the direction of the bright morning sunrise and into the bandhall.

We all hung out in the concessions waiting for lunch. It was dark and hot in there and no one else was around because they were all marching outside. The football players were playing really loud music from the speakers in the stands, but we were so focused on our conversation we basically blocked it out. Soon enough the band mom's came in to prepare for lunch so we rushed to the ice machines and got ready to hand out gatorade.

I got finished gathering my things and was heading to the car,all sweaty and dead feeling, I looked back at the school and said to my self, "I'm gonna like being in marching band"
