 Prologue

As Regan stared into her deep brown eyes, he saw a spark of gold light them up. He was stuck in this nightmare and no matter what he did, he couldn't pull his eyes from hers. Or stop his ears from bleeding at the truthful words she spat at him; their anger like bright silver bullets pushing into his skin and striking at his inner wolf. Or try and say something, anything, to make her stop.

"You keep arguing about is who is more powerful. Well, guess what? Neither one of you can be more powerful that the other. When people are powerful, they have enough brain power to realize that their argument is over something absolutely stupid. In fact, your argument is so invalid that it doesn't justify all the lives that have been sacrificed for it. When you could have been uniting against a true enemy, you were busy playing silly war games and wasting resources."

Her words so familiar by now just kept hammering in the truth of his actions. He'd never thought about what his selfishness had actually done to others. He'd never even thought outside his and Roman's argument. With no worldly experience, the wolf he'd once been had been destroyed by her candidness and every time he remembered those words, claws shredding the core of who he was. He didn't know what spell she was spinning - though it was strange because all he could ever scent from her was her humanity - but it was working. Piece by piece, strengths and ideals that had made him the strong Alpha he had been had broken apart and now, as his nightmare trapped him again, he could feel his wolf retreating and trying to cover its ears with its paws.

It was no use.

Marissa was literally tearing him in half and all he could do was stare in pain at the human who had changed his life forever.

"You never even thought of what it would do to your people. What about those who have lost their lives to this cause? Did you think about what they could have done had there never been a war between you and they had survived? All those potential mates and children lost just because you have this petty feud and have infected the minds of all the younger generations. What of those that aren't even a part of your disagreement? You've dragged us in and put us all in danger. It's despicable and utterly selfish. You should be ashamed of yourselves!"

When she finally turned back to look at her mate, he knew that in this reoccurring nightmare that he had a moment to try and break free from the shackles of shock that held him immobile. He managed just to shake his head trying to dispel the words running rampant through his mind; a wasted effort. When he looked back at her, he saw the Dragon Orb glowing in her hands. He had no idea what was happening but by the grief struck look on her mate's face and her heartfelt final words, he felt something in his chest shatter.

Then there was a flash of light engulfing her and a blanket of darkness forcing him to another world.

Regan had no idea how long he was out for, but screams of pain and an echo of a single name being called out eventually shocked him awake. When he fully regained consciousness, sitting up and breathing short sharp breaths, there were two things that made him freeze

One: he didn't know where he was. Two: he was in big trouble.
