I cried and sobbed and screamed,
Because I tried to stay strong,
To stand tall during the hurricane.
I was a tree that was falling and twisting and bending as the world choked me in its embrace.
My beautiful leaves were beginning to yellow. But then I smiled and laughed and danced.
Because like a tree,
Even if I was crooked,
Even if my branches had broken,
Even if my canopy touched the dust,
I could still grow,
Be kissed by the sun
And soon enough, bear my fruits.
