I sat down across from Harry, Eleanor beside me and Louis across from her. I wore a simple black dress, as we went to a slightly formal restaurant. It wasn't as awkward as the meal Harry and I had alone, simply because of how talkative Louis was.
Once we ordered our meals, Louis spoke up.
"How will we split the bill?" Louis asked Harry.
"I'll pay for Valerie and I, you can pay for yourself and El," Harry said, glancing towards Eleanor and I for approval.
"I can pay for my meal, it's no big deal," I said.
"It wouldn't be a date if you paid for your own meal," Harry said, smiling.
"No, it isn't really a date between us in the first place. We are just hanging out, so I can pay for my own meal," I said. Harry fell silent, leaning back in his seat, glancing towards Louis for a second.
"Okay, Valerie pays for her meal, Harry pays for his, I'll pay for El and I," Louis said, looking towards us. I nodded gently. I felt bad about what I said, so I simply stayed quiet for the most part. I know Louis and Eleanor were looking forward to double-dating, but I simply had no feelings for Harry. I made a mental note to not let Eleanor talk me into this again, because I would rather be at my apartment than sitting across from Harry.
----
"This has been fun, thanks for inviting us!" Eleanor said with a smile as we stood outside, getting ready to go out to our car.
"Yeah, it was fun," Louis said with a smile. As Louis and Eleanor went into a conversation, I pulled Harry to the side.
"I'm sorry for earlier, I was being really rude," I apologised.
"No problem," he said with a smile, "if you don't want to call it a date, it's fine."
"Well, would you want to call it a date?" I said, unsure.
"I guess I would. It didn't go exactly as I would have wanted it, though," he said, grinning slightly. I smiled.
"Something we can agree on," I said, making him laugh. I felt better now knowing we were leaving on good terms.
As I arrived at my apartment with Eleanor, I went to my bedroom. I changed into sweats, laying in bed. I didn't have any classes or work the next day, do I was very excited to sleep in and catch up on some much needed sleep. I barely even thought of the dinner earlier, simply because I didn't care enough to think about it. I promised myself over the meal I wouldn't let anyone convince me to sit through another meal with Harry, and I was serious.
