Now to the present. The date was May 29th. She had six days left of school, and she was in a horrible mood. She'd gotten a note slipped to her in English saying, 'Hey! I was wondering if you'd maybe like to go out with me? Love Amelia.' Then on the back it said, 'Oh wait. I'm not a fag! Never mind!!!'
Everyone thought it was the funniest thing, and after that class she just left school. She walked along the street with her earbuds in, fuming and sad. Then something happened that set the bomb completely off. A car was coming down the street, and a high-school aged girl was driving. A college looking boy was sitting next to her, and a younger teen was sitting in the back seat. She didn't recognize any of them, they must have gone to the other school in the area that's let out for vacation the day before. Samantha glanced at them, and continued minding her own business and walking down the street. She heard yelling, and paused. She took out her earbud, and turned her head. The windows were rolled down and the two teenagers in the front were laughing and yelling at her. 'Faggot!' And 'Queer!'
She stopped dead in her tracks with an incomprehensible look on her face. That made them laugh harder, and they sped off turning their music up. Believer by Imagine Dragons pierced the air, along with the laughter of the people in the car. She could see the younger girl in the back hanging her head and looking away.
That didn't matter though, Samantha decided. She was done. She wasn't angry and she wasn't sad. She was simply done. Content with her decision, she finished the walk home and found the key for her dads gun cabinet. She scribbled out a note and left it on the table in the kitchen. She unlocked the cabinet, pulling out a revolver. She slowly climbed the stairs, and sat on her bed. She wasn't scared, she wasn't anything. She felt nothing as she put the gun into her mouth, and
Bang.
