Old School Love [One-Shot]

PROLOGUE:

Birthdays are always an event in the family. Kailangan complete. It was a tradition established by Lolo and Lola way way before us grandkids came along.

We're a big family but everybody makes it a point to attend. We may live in different cities and countries now but we always gather for celebrations like this. Family affairs are usually held at our ancestral home in Dasma Village.

My cousins and I are gathered in one table away from the adults. It's Tito Chris' 48th birthday. He's my mom's eldest sibling. They usually talk about adult stuff so us kids have a mini meeting of our own. We talk about school stuff, life in general or sometimes we make fun of our parents and their parenting styles.

When the boys started talking about boy stuff.. My eyes landed on my grandparents. Lola and Lolo are the sweetest couple ever! I saw Lolo assisting lola down the small flight of steps on the way to the garden. Then kiniss pa nya ung hand ni lola! My grandparents are such cuties! Di ko tuloy napigilan to comment..

"When I grow up, I wanna have a relationship like Lolo's and Lola's. See! Ang sweet parin nila after so many years."

I caught the attention of my cousins. And I guess they saw what I was talking about.

"Me too, Ate Cal! I hope I can find someone like Lolo." Maddie is the youngest among us. She's 10.

I'm Callie, by the way.

"Maddie! You're too young pa to think about that!" Tash, the elder sister of Maddie chuckled at her sister.

"Oo nga, Mads. Besides, that guy will have to go through your Kuyas first. Diba?" Kuya Lawrence the eldest among all of us spoke. The other 3 boys agreed from the sidelines.

"Kuya Law talaga! If you guys are like that.. Baka I would end up like Tita Ria na walang husband!" Hahaha. Ang cute cute ni Maddie.

Tita Ria is the youngest among our parents. She hasnt married yet and has no kids. Kaya kami ang babies nya.

We laughed at Mads' reaction. "Husband agad? Maddie ah! Dont grow up too fast okay? You're still our baby!" Kuya Law stood up and messed up Mads' hair. He also pinched her chubby cheeks. Adorable.

"Oh kayong mga kids, binubully nyo nanaman si Maddie!" Lola is making her way to us. Even at such an age, she's a beauty. Maybe I got my morena look from her. Lolo is very lucky to have her.
