I paced the corridor of my house. today was they day my destiny was decided. I could become a homeless I could become a docter. Whatever was chosen; there was no way out. I would be there forever. My heart was pounding harder and harder the more I thought about it.
"Shye? are you okay?," I looked up to see Emerson.
Emerson. His beautiful brown hair and blue eyes glowed in the dark corridor. He was so young. So wise. "Yea, I'm good," I bent down and hugged him tightly,"Emerson, I love you, but today might be our last day together...but I can always visit."
Emerson looked like he understood but tears pooled in his eyes,"But if you become a teacher I can see you right?"
"Yes, so lets hope I become a teacher"
I heard feet coming our way. I knew it was my mother and father. I drew a deep, but shaky breath. I took in the house one last time.
"Shyelena, it is time."
I stand and run my hair through Emerson's hair, and whisper my goodbye.
I won't become a teacher. I know.I won't. I will become something. Something unimportant as my whole family has been. Nothing but a family tree of misfits and outcasts. I know I will be the same.
