There was music being played loudly, cheers everywhere, and lots, lots of people. It wasn't unusual for the capital of Spades to hold a party or celebration of some sort out of nowhere, specially now that it was Christmas time. Although, said parties were held during the evening and onwards, not before noon.
Little Alfred was intrigued. Could it be...? The boy glanced out and gasped, it really was a Royal Visit! And a royal visit meant watching the King and the Queen, so beautifully dressed and so good looking, but mainly watching the little Prince alongside them. After some pleading and the use of his big puppy eyes, his father let Alfred go out to see what was going on, which he did happily.
The boy soon found himself in the middle of the crowd, struggling to get a good look at the royal family. He ended up being pushed and pulled, making him frown and huff in annoyance. He too had the right to see what was going on! Finally, he managed to push his way through the people, smiling at the view.
Arthur, the young prince, stood beside his parents, trailing just slightly behind. Despite acting all polite, as anyone from the high society did, his expression screamed 'bored'. That was something Alfred hadn't ever seen in that pale face of his. And after a while, he could even hear the prince's sighs when someone spoke to him. It was amusing.
Some minutes later, Arthur's father, aka King George, started to address the crowd surrounding them, making the guards turn their attention fully to him. That gave away a chance for Arthur to slip away from his family and the commotion, quickly and quietly, in hopes of finding something more interesting to do.
Alfred noticed, of course, since he was staring so intensely at the kid. He gasped quietly, he seemed to be the only one who saw the prince's little escape. Slowly, he backed away from the crowd, looking around to see where Prince Arthur could have gone. He decided to go the the places around the area that did not have many people. One of those places was a little abey between two buildings, and that's exactly where he found someone putting on a blue cape with the Spades' symbol on its back. Bingo.
After slowly approaching the caped boy, Alfred deemed that he was definitely lost, by the way he glanced around without taking another step, and what kind of citizen would Alfred be if he couldn't help the prince?
"Hey!" Alfred called out. He must have really scared Arthur, because the boy jumped a few inches and turned around with alarmed eyes. "I thought you looked lost! Do you need help?"
"...No, not really. I'm just exploring and I'm wondering which way to go." Alfred almost squealed. The prince and he were talking! Arthur was very well spoken for his young age. Must be because he lived in a castle, the blue eyed boy thought to himself.
"Oh, I can take you in a little tour around the town!" Alfred offered while Arthur pulled his hood down, seeing no point to it now that he'd been found out. "And we can avoid all those people too."
"Oh yes please! Seeing the town is bound to be a lot more interesting than the palace!" The prince chirped enthusiastically before a question popped in his mind, which he openly asked due to being so new to being out the castle on his own. "Are most commoners this kind?"
Alfred shook his head at Arthur's next question, but still had a smile on his face. "Not everyone's good. But me and my family are!"
"Wait really?" Arthur's eyes were wide in shock. "Well my parents say that some people are mean but I don't know why."
"Oh yes, some people are such meanies... But I'm not!" Alfred smiled brightly and held out his hand. "I'm Alfred, by the way! Oh, and about what you said before, the castle is way more awesome than the town! Must be cool not to have classes!"
