"Are you nervous?" My mom asked me after putting my hair in a bun.
"No." I answered. "I'm not."
"That's good. What are you going to pick?"
There was no question about that. "In Abnegation."
"I'm glad you're going to stay." She opened the small mirror before me. I looked up and saw my reflection, pale skin, blonde hair. "Do you think Anna will stay?" I asked Mom.
"I don't know, unfortunately." She answered me. "Oh," I sighed. I glanced up at the mirror one more time. "That's all you get, rules are there for a reason." She said closing the latch to the mirror. "C'mon, let's go." She said walking down the stairs with me following her. "I'll make dinner tonight, then after Anna and I can take to rest to the faction-less." I offered.
"Make sure to bring last night's leftovers too. I can't believe we forgot." Mom answered me. "Yeah ok."
As the smell of the plain chicken wafted through the house Anna came bounding downstairs. "What's for dinner?"she asked skipping over to me. "Chicken and soup. Same as always." I told her.
"Don't you ever get tired of the same thing every night?" She asked us. "I mean it's soup and chicken, chicken and soup. Then we-" I gently elbowed hr to tell her to shut up while Mom was around but she acted like noting happened. "Then we go feed the faction-less, it's the same thing every day!" She said. "Anna, stop!" I warned her. Mom just stared at her in disbelief. "Seriously." She groaned and walked away. "I can't wait 'till the Choosing Ceremony." I heard her say under her breath.
A few minutes later I called out for dinner and Mom, Dad, and Anna came down and sat at the table.
We all held hands and recited the Abnegation Manifesto. "And only God remains." We all finished together.
I picked up my spoon and took a sip of the plain soup before me.
Even though this life is no Dauntless, how could Anna give this up? I thought that to myself.

After Anna and I gave our food to the faction-less we were sitting on our beds talking.
"What are you going to pick for the Choosing Ceremony?" Anna asked me. "Abnegation of course. Aren't you going to?" I asked her, a little worried that she really was going to leave us.
"Well..."
"Anna!" I gasped. "What? I never said I wasn't going to stay in Abnegation!" She threw her hands up in defense.
"I know." I sighed. I laid down and turned off the light.
"Goodnight, Anna."
