Today was the day. Anna and I would decide the faction we'd be placed in for the rest of our lives.
Was I smart, Erudite? Was I peaceful, Amity? Was I truthful, Candor? Was I brave, Dauntless? Or was I selfless, Abnegation.
Abnegation of course.
I knew Anna wasn't staying in Abnegation. She would probably be in Dauntless or maybe even Amity. She liked adventure, a change of plans and such.
I walked downstairs and started making breakfast. Plain oatmeal.
A few minutes later the rest of my family came down and we all sat at the table. I passed out the food and we started to eat.
"We must hurry, don't wanna be late." My Dad said.
When we were finished eating Anna and I put on our dished in the sink and ran upstairs to get our gray dresses on.
"When Anna and I were finished getting our clothes on I looked at her and smiled.
"Anna no matter what you pick, I'll always love you. I don't care if they say faction before blood my family will be more important." I said, giving her a hug.
I pulled away and looked at her.
"Are you, crying?" I asked her. "No no, uh, your hair just got in my eye."
She answered. "Sure."
"Mom! Dad! We're ready!" I called. We all walked down the path to where all the factions' territories meet. There was a large building with 5 separate sections of seats for the 5 factions. At the middle of the room were 5 white bowls, all representing the different factions.
"Attention! Attention everybody!" The host called out. The ceremony is beginning.
"We are gathered here to have factions gain people, and factions lose. This is the day those people will decide. The first chooser today is... Daniel Radcliffe!"
A kid from Erudite walked up to the bowls. He took the knife from the host and cut his hand. He looked at the water for Erudite, and the glass for Candor. Just before his blood dripped into the Erudite bowl he held it over the Candor bowl.
All of Candor cheered, and Daniel walked over to them and sat down.
"Ok, next! Mandy Moore!"
A girl with short brown hair walked from Amity. She cut her hand and held it over the dirt for Amity. All of Amity clapped.
"Kristen Bell!" A girl from Abnegation walked down. She nervously looked back at her mom, and her mom nodded her head. Kristen walked up and cut her hand with the knife. She was shaking.
She walked down to where the bowl for Dauntless was and held her hand over it. The blood made a sizzling sound on the hot coals.
Kristen walked over to Dauntless and they cheered really loud.
"Anna Arendelle!" The host called out. Anna stood up and walked to the bowls. She looked up at us, then she cut her hand she held her hand over the stones for Abnegation, then moved it to the coals for Dauntless. Her blood dripped onto the hot coals.
No!
Dauntless's noisy cheers filled the room as they welcomed Anna.
My sister, my only sibling, was gone.
"Elsa Arendelle!" The host called out.
Here it goes, just picking Abnegation. The host handed me the knife and I cut my hand. I winced in pain but stood tall.
I looked at the big white bowls,
Abnegation, Dauntless, Candor, Erudite, and Amity, lined up in that order. I walked over to the Abnegation bowl. But I must of moved my hand to quick because I heard a sizzle and realized that my blood had dripped into the Dauntless bowl. I gasped, no! I don't want to be in Dauntless. I felt my eyes tearing as I looked at my mom. Now both of her children were gone. I was going to pick Abnegation!
Dauntless cheered and that was the end of the ceremony. All of Dauntless bolted out of the building and climbed the train.
I was now a Dauntless initiate.
