Opportunity Knocks

" Why you so late ? " I asked as Casey entered the office . She looked like she was exhausted an had been in a hurry . I watched as she put her things behind her desk before walking to mine . " Whats wrong ? " I asked knowing this couldn't be good .
" Trent was supposed to pick up Julian last night , never showed . So I had to drive him all the way across town this morning cause I had no one to watch him . " She said with her hand on her forehead looking stressed .
" Why couldn't he pick him up this morning ? " I asked . I swear Trent never follows through with anything .
" Cause supposedly him mom took his car . " She said making air quotes with her fingers making me shake my head . " So now that I'm late I gotta be here all damn day . " She said . It was Saturday and we never worked full days on Saturdays . But you had to stay a certain length of time . Especially if you wanted to get paid . I had been here since 4 this morning so that i wouldn't have to stay long .
" Don't worry bout it girl , Jason hasn't even showed up yet . I clocked you in when I got here . " I said letting her know there was nothing to worry about .
" Thanks girl , I owe you big time . " She sighed in relief before getting back to her desk . I looked at the time noticing it was already 2 in the afternoon . So I decided to just clock out and head home to see my babies .
" Leaving already ? " I heard a deep voice say as I walked out of the building . I turned to see Jason sitting on the bench that was in front of the double doors . He was dressed in his suit as always but looked like he had been here for a little bit .
" Where have you been ? " I asked stopping to talk to him . He shrugged as a smirk grew across his face .
" Just got here a lil bit ago . Don't feel like goin in just yet . " He spoke smoothly . I couldn't lie , he was good looking . But he knew it and used it to advantage . He looked at it like every girl wanted him . Hell , every single woman that worked in the office has tried to get at him in some type of way . But I could care less about all that . I have three beautiful kids and a husband that I loved dearly , so the flirting didn't really work with me ..
" Well I left your messages on your desk and went ahead and filed those cases for you . So they're ready when you are . " I said before turning to walk away but heard him call out to me again . I turned back around seeing that he was now standing with his hands in his pockets .
" I got a really important case in a couple weeks back in California an I was wondering if you could come with me ? You know like as my assistant . " He explained making me raise my brow .
" Assistant ? What you need an assistant for ? " I asked crossing my arms across my chest .
