Robyn 🏀
Ah, summer afternoon. Two words you just can't top. Tank tops, converse running shoes, jean shorts, and hair spilling around your head as you lay apon childhood memories. Or a treehouse you built with your best friend when you were kids, to be exact. This about sums me up right now! I stretch my legs up and can almost touch the top of our tree house, which is COVERED in Blaires (AKA best friends) paintings. I look at my favourite painting, from a few weeks ago. It was a picture us, done to the exact detail. Me and my tallness, bronze curly hair, and emerald coloured eyes. She even got my freckles! Then there was her with her not-so-tallness, pale blond hair that only went to her shoulders, and grey eyes. I was still admiring it when I heard a crunch, and something landed inches from my head.
"Still admiring my art?"
Asked an all-to-familiar voice.
"Pfft I've got talents too!"
I rolled my eyes and laughed. I turned my head to see a pack of Oreos and Blaire climbing through the door of our tree house.
Wait! Back up for a second. A few details I should mention before I continue:
1) I am going in to 11th grade
2) I'm 16 years old
3) I live in Silene, British Columbia
4) I have a stepdad, a Stepmom, and an obnoxious little Stepsister
5) Who are all currently in Hawaii without me (sucks Robyn!)
6) Oh and my name is Robyn Raze.
Now back to the show!
I sat up and was blinded by the setting sun. Blaire sat down next to me and opened the Oreos.
"Bad attitude does NOT count as a talent." Blaire mocked.
"Maybe not, but I'm one hell of a basketball player! And I've got that kid down the street as proof."
"You mean Kyle? Robyn you gave him a concussion!"
"And now he knows not to mess with me!"
Blaire laughed and kick my leg. I grabbed an Oreo and bit into it.
"Hey, hey! You got to give some to get some! And I strongly suspect you have have something in that bag over there."
She pulled the cookies away. And pointed at my shoulder bag. Ugh, she knew me so well. I sighed and floated the bag towards us. Oops, I might have forgotten to mention something on my list. I'll just say it:
Blaire and me have have powers.
I have telekinesis, and she well, I don't know controls ice or something. Cool right? Neither of us know why or who are birth parents are, but, oh well what can ya do?
(Stay tuned, we will probably learn more later.) Maybe that's why Blaire and I became so close. We don't really have that much in common. I look at her blue skirt and blouse.
I'm really sporty, and she is really artsy and book nerdish and smart.
I reached into my bag and pull out two Arizona drinks.
"NOW we're taking!"
Blaire says and slides the Oreos back towards me. We sat and talked for a bit about bands, and our fav TV shows, people, you know just hung out. By then it was dark out.
"Hey my parents are gone to Hawaii for, like, two weeks, do you want to come over?"
"Ya sure! It's getting dark anyway."
"Aww is Blaire still afraid of the dark?"
"What? No way."
"I know I'm joking. If anyone came after you, you could just pulverize them with icicles!"
"And don't you doubt it!"
We both laughed. I jumped out the window using my telekinesis to stop me inches from the ground.
"Oh. I see how it is."
Blaire said looking down at me. Then out of nowhere a thin later of sparkling ice touched from the top of the tree house to the ground. Blaire slid down and the ice disappeared. She looked at me and rose her eyebrows. Ok, so maybe her power WAS a little cooler then mine. We started walking back to my house.
(My idea to build the treehouse in the middle of the forest.) I looked up and saw the canopy of trees in the darkness. Suddenly the wind picked up. The leaves whistled and branches swayed back and forth like crazy. A twig snapped to the left. Then a heard a weird sound coming from all around us, like a bunch of people throwing rocks everywhere.(Am I the only one here thinking about the Blare witch project?)
"What the?"
I said out loud. That's when I saw them. Well, sort of saw them. Shadowy things that were pitch black creeping along the the trees.
My breath caught. Adrenaline and fear raced threw me. This is CRAZY, I thought, am I seeing things?
"Do you see these too?"
I whispered. No answer.
"Blaire? Hey Blaire!"
I turned in a circle. No Blaire.
"Dammit DAMMIT!"
Ok now I'm worried.
"Blaire! BLAIRE! Where are you!"
Then she responded. With a
blood. curdling. scream.
