Dare ✔️
10:23pm
I paced back and forth in my room. My room was one of my favourite things about the Base. The Base was like a mansion. Picture the Casaloma but made of obsidian and crystal. Also with magical invisible boarders that kept everything but Kamps out. In case you haven't picked up on what a "Kamp" is, I'll explain it. And no, it's not a camp, it's completely different. Kamps are what we call our selves. We each have one BP (birth power) and a few others, smaller powers we get once we are older.
For example, my BP is controlling the weather, and I have "seeing in the dark" as an other. Also we are all extremely strong and fast, and can fight by instinct. We have been around for as long as people (but are twice as cool) and our main goal is destroying Hazens, which have also been around as long as people. Hazens come in all different forms. They are what humans call "monsters" or "aliens."
The Base is like a safe home and training area for Kamps. Ours has a library, pool, training room, hundreds of bedrooms and a working staff. Our working staff isn't real people though. But anyway. I flopped down on my circular, black silk bed. My navy blue walls were covered with band posters like Led Zeppelin and Green day. They matched my Social Distortion shirt and track pants. (My kind of pajamas.)
I got up and paced around the room a little more. I stopped in front of my mirror and took in my messy golden hair and electric blue eyes that were partly covered by my choppy side bangs.
I sighed. Ugh damn. I gave in.
I open my bedroom door and started running down the empty hallway. I needed to go talk to Tatum. I turned a corner and smacked into someone. The world was a mix of tan skin, dark hair and bright green eyes. I went down landing hard on top of him. I rolled off. It was Reece.
"God damn Reece there are four people in this whole mansion and you can't avoid running into one?"
Reece got up and offered me his hand.
"Maybe you don't remember Dare, but YOU ran into ME."
"Ya I tend to forget things that aren't important to me."
I pushed his hand away and stood up.
"Who are you again?"
I joked. He put his hands on my arms to steady me. He brushed his wavy gold-streaked hair out of his eyes and leaned in close.
"Are you okay?"
"Top of the world! Now let go loser."
I laughed and pushed him away. Reece was a good friend of mine and one of my favourite people, but I'll never tell him.
I took off again running down the hall. The fuzzy carpet squished beneath my feet. I stopped at the edge of the stairs. I was on the 4th floor along with Jade, and the boys Reece and Tatum were on the 3rd. I didn't even bother down the stairs I just flew. (Flying comes with weather power.) I landed at the bottom of one of the massive stairwells and summersaulted to soften the blow. The same shaggy carpet was on this floor.
I turned and started running again down a different hallway. Two lefts, one right. I was there. I stood in front of the doorway, suddenly not so eager anymore. Tatum was my best friend and always has been. We did everything together. We were so alike! But this afternoon EVERYTHING changed.

We were lying on the roof drinking Stewarts pop and throwing rocks as far as we could into the distance. The B.C. mountains and forests were amazing. Tatum looked over at me and gave me one of his rare smiles, and I gave him one of mine.
"So Tate, let's say we were both stranded somewhere out there in the forest without any of our powers, who do you think would last longer?"
I looked at him daring him to challenge.
"Do we get our weapons?"
He flipped dirty blond hair out of his eyes. SILVER eyes, to be exact. Don't know don't care.
"Duh!"
"Then me"
"Oh please, I kick ass!"
I turned and kicked him for effect.
Suddenly I felt something wrap around my torso. It looked like a shadow, but you could feel it.
"Hey! Let me go!"
I said as Tate laughed. He seemed to rethink once thunder rumbled in the distance.
"Easy now!"
I glared as the shadowy thing disappeared. In case your a
little.... slow, Tate's BP is like shadows or something.
"I would win,"
he continued,
"because I would have my sword, and all you would have is a spear."
"I could take you with nothing at all! And spears rock."
I fired back at him.
He sat quietly for a few minutes, looking into the distance. Then he turned back to me.
"Come here I have to tell you something."
He nodded his head. I scooted closer to him. His silver eyes sparkling. On an attractive scale from 1-10 he was a 14, and this is coming from me.
"Well this should be good! Last time you said that to me I ended up with a black eye."
He smirked. Then he leaned in and kissed me lightly. I broke away first.
I started at him in shock and he showed no emoticon at all. Then I got up and walked back to my room, punching anything I felt the need to.

My stomach did flip-flops and I cursed at it. I listened for sounds but didn't hear any, so I took a deep breath and knocked on Tatums door.
