The rest of the week seemed to go by quickly seeing as work was slow and they had lots of free time. Louis and Eleanor took a trip to Fiji and weren’t due back until the following week.

“I’ve never understood the whole destination wedding thing,” Perrie said as she and Avalon grabbed smoothies from a shop down the street from Bass. “I mean, people are already paying lots of money to get to the wedding in the first place and on gifts. Why would you make them spend more to travel?”

“Who knows,” Avalon shrugged, “To each their own I guess. What are you and Zayn planning on doing?”

“Oh it’s going to be a very small ceremony,” Perrie nodded, “Nothing special. Only close friends and family, of course. I think, with the baby being here by the time we have the wedding we’re going to try to get it over with rather quickly.”

“But it’s your wedding!” Avalon gasped, “You don’t want to make it something special?”

“It will be,” Perrie smiled, “But it just won’t drag on.”

“I know what you mean, I guess,” Avalon sighed, “Honestly, I’m not big on the whole marriage thing to begin with.”

“Seriously?” Perrie raised an eyebrow, “You seem like the type of girl that spends her entire life thinking about her dress and the ring and the reception. I’m surprised you haven’t started stashing wedding magazines in your desk now that you and Harry are together.”

Avalon blushed and looked down at her heels as they made their way back to Bass. “Harry is very touchy when it comes to relationships,” Avalon said, planning out her words, “I’m not sure how he’d feel about us getting married. He’s very content with where we are now and we’ve only been together for six months. That’s not a long time for a life-lasting relationship. Plus, if I’m going to build a life with him then there are some things we still need to clear up.”

“Really? Like what?”

“Kids,” was the first word that shot from Avalon’s mouth, “I don’t want a lot of kids. Maybe only one. I’m not big on kids, but I want one to call my own, you know?” Avalon bit her lip, “But … kids are the touchiest subject in the world for Harry. I think if I was to bring it up then he’d probably freak out or shy away and I don’t want either of that to happen.”

“Is this about Sc –”

“Hey!” The girls were back at Bass by now, just walking through the doors, when Harry ran up to catch up with them.

“Hey,” Avalon mumbled, blushing slightly at the thought of seeing the boy they’d been talking about seconds before. She had a flash of him waiting for her at the altar and had to clear her throat to bring herself back to reality.
