The Smoking Man - Chapter 4 - Mysterious Note Leads To Shocking Revelation Following My Excursion
-
After the excitement of the previous evening me and Mylène decided to sleep in our separate rooms and bid one another good night whilst wishing each other a peaceful nights sleep. My mind was stirred by the thought of that evil presence watching over me so I decided to leave the table lamp on until I felt like I was about to drift off to sleep.
It was just after 3am when I was awoken by a sudden jolt which appeared to emanate from the bookcase at the back of my room near to the door.
One could guess in the half light that an object had either fallen or had been thrown onto the floor.
In the end I decided to ignore the intrusion to my peaceful nights sleep and closed my eyes after switching off the lamp.
Suddenly just a few moments later I felt a cold draft of air pass near to my feet which were peeping out at the base of the bed and then I noticed a light appear under my door.
There then followed two sharp taps on the door and I noticed that the light under the door was becoming dimmed by a shadow.
Something or someone was definitely standing in front of my door and curiosity finally got the better of me as I leapt out of bed like a scolded cat.
On first inspection I couldn't find any object which might have fallen on the floor as I turned to unlock my door.
To my complete surprise I couldn't find anyone in the corridor but turned around to discover that the door to my cabin had been slammed shut.
I made several attempts to open it but alas without success,it appeared that something or someone was standing in my cabin and was now blocking my access.
After a short time I gave up and decided to visit Mylène's room to see if I could stay with her tonight.
However when I reached her cabin I suddenly noticed that her door was wide open, even more curious was the discovery that she had apparently vacated the room leaving her main light on.
I scratched my head and became concerned for her welfare,it was even a greater surprise to me to discover that when I checked her wardrobe I found it empty.
In fact there were no items belonging to her contained within the room to suggest that she had ever stayed there.
This was indeed a puzzle but it would have to keep for the morning as I decided to return to my cabin and make a further attempt to gain access.
On returning I noticed immediately that the door was wide open unlike how I had left it,I was so tired and confused that I literally fell back on the bed and was not interrupted again until 8am when an audio announcement on the train woke me up
We were about to enter "Stazione Di Venezia - Santa Lucia" all passengers were advised to vacate their rooms and take their belongings with them.
I realised that I would have my work cut out but hurriedly packed my suitcase and changed into my clothes before I vacated the room locking the door behind me and making my way to the departure point.
Luckily I was just in time but I was lamenting the fact that I had missed breakfast,a curious collection of passengers and staff huddled together, some looking the worse for ware whilst others chatted to one another.
A few moments later the train pulled into the station and I was keen to see if Mylène was amongst the departing passengers but there was no sign of her.
I observed all the people who disembarked but she did not leave the train, after a small afterthought I decided to roll my suitcase along the station platform and make my way out of the station to a nearby taxi rank.
