It's a rough world we live in that's no word of a lie
And sometimes all we are left with is whether to do or to die
And some people choose do and they follow that path
And sometimes it works but it sometimes turns dark
And they fight they're way right through the depths of hell
And maybe walk out into a prison cell
And those who choose die well they don't have it much better
All they turn into is a bright yellow letter
And most of these people they don't know why they fight
They can't even tell the difference between darkness and light
They step out and jump into a land unknown
And if they survive and make it back home
Then there's the question: was it them that came back?
Or did they lose something of themselves out there under attack?
And they live out the rest of their lives all alone
Because the mind is an empty place with no phone
The tears are common and so is the fear
And they slowly fade year after year
It's just like a disease this PTSD
Turns the weak into dust and the strong into weak
It dismantles the brain and spits it out broken
And leaves friends, families all people floating
Across the deep seas to find a solution
But never will they achieve what they are looking
The pain runs deep and so does the hate
As the memories haunt every minute it doesn't matter the date
They know what they did and what happened to others
And they cry in their sleep deep under the covers
But sheets provide no protection not against this
Not against pure rage, now let's shift
It all up a gear and see what comes after
See what accompanies this miracle disaster
Depression: that's a word which we all know
A word that's common and constantly flows
Out of all of our mouths without comprehending the meaning
And we see teenagers but disregard the beating
But depression's not a joke nor is it funny
But it's easy to ignore when it's hidden in a buggy
But let's put it in perspective see what's the truth
See what really lies under the hood
Imagine every day waking up and thinking about you
Hating every single thing from the head to the shoes
Dreading seeing people dreading those talks
Knowing people judge you for the way you walk
You know there are haters and a massive lack of sympathy
And you know people fake it and that there's no empathy
You know you will die someday, somehow
And you hope it is soon, hey, why not now?
You consider your death whether anyone will miss you
And you finally conclude that none of it is true
That when people say they like spending their time
In your humble presence you know it's all lies
You see this one girl, damn is she beautiful
And you want to talk to her, but you know that won't do at all
See you can't talk to girls, and every time you try
You just mess it up and try to not to cry
Because accompanying your depression is a lack of social skills
Because the less time you spend with people the more it feels like a drill
In your head, as a sentence tries to form
And you look in her eyes and you feel like you're worn
Her eyes are amazing truthful and deep
And it doesn't matter what colour because they're all so neat
You see brown is cute, and powerful and strong
And with sparkling blue eyes, you can never go wrong
And green is amazing, and beautiful and rare
A girl with greens eyes will always hold your stare
Which is hard when eye contact is your biggest weakness
And as you stare back at her all you feel is bleakness
Because you know that she can never be yours
Why would she want you when you're full of such bores
And as you look at this girl you adore
You feel the pain right down to your core
So you walk away and try not to look back
But those beautiful eyes have you under attack
And you turn around to see her walk away too
But she doesn't look back, no, she's not as weak as you
But I've gone slightly off topic, see what I'm trying to say
Is that you should look around you every minute, hour, and day
You should see more than what people show you outside
You should look deeper to see what they hide
Because chances are many are hurting
And all they need is for you to pull back the curtain
In fact, don't pull it back rip it in two
Let the earth shake, show them what to do
And fall on your knees look up to the sky
See the clouds part and feel the eyes
Of someone far greater than any great thought
Stare down at you and tell you you brought
Joy to his heart to hear you say
That you love Him in every way
And when you were crying because that girl said "no"
He was crying too and He wanted to go
And tell her just how amazing you are
And how you are so great that you'd give her your heart
But He knows that she is not the girl for you
Because He's created the right one, and that part is true
So next time you're down or crying with fear
Know that King Jesus is shedding a tear
And He's at your side though you may not know
Jesus is there, and He won't let you go

Do or Die
PoetryThis is a poem about war, social inability and the general pain of the world. It's not quite as depressing as I just made it sound but it's not too far off either. This is quite personal to me so please don't be too harsh in your comments.
