Chapter Four: Maths

After geography, the next class rolled around. During the small time of talks and all, another student came in. He had a note in his hands, the dual colored male looked around. Though his eyes settled on (y/n). (y/n) at the time was making small talk with Yugo. Yugo and her were smiling and cracking jokes to one another. The male tilted his head and then it hit him. That female is a new student. (y/n) looked over at the male, she waved a smiled. Yugo then turned his head, he immediately rolled his eyes at the sight of him.

The male walked over to Yugo, "Where's Mr. Yuki?"

"He's onto his next class, so you're not late for maths." Yugo spoke back.

"You two look alike..." (y/n) mumbled to herself.

"Huh?" Yugo almost made a noise, "What did ya say?"

She giggled, "You two look alike!"

"Yugo and I are brothers." Said the other male.

"Too bad I'm related to this loser." Yugo laughed.

"I'm (y/n) (l/n), what about you?" (y/n) smiled lightly.

"(l/n)? I like that, I'm Yuto." Yuto responded back, as he twiddled with the paper in his hand.

Yuto sat in front of (y/n). He turned his torso to look at the two of them, "Your last name sounds foreign. Though you have good Japanese."

"She's from America. The big USA." Yugo smiled, "Apparently she use to live here before."

(y/n) nodded, "Yeah, though that's when I was like five or something!"

"Well (l/n) I hope you like it here." Yuto spoke.

"Thanks Yuto, I hope I get to meet new people!" (y/n) had a big smile on her face.

Ruri walked over and leaned on Yuto. She rubbed her face against his and Yuto sighed. Yugo chuckled and pinched one of the male's cheeks. Yuto rolled his eyes and smacked his hand away. (y/n) smiled lightly and gave a small wave.

"Hey Ruri." (y/n) spoke.

"You two know each other?" Yuto asked.

"Yeah, from before. Shun ran into her, so we got to know each other for a bit." Ruri smiled, "I also got a text from Shun. He says he's doing better (y/n)-Chan!" Ruri sang out.

"You're calling her 'chan' already?" Yugo snickered, "That's like me calling you Kurosaki. It's weird."

"Oh boo hoo Yugo. You're just jealous." Ruri laughed.

"Oh what?!" Yugo was almost embarrassed.

Yuto smiled, "Typical."

"Hey don't give me your snarky one liners! I demand an answer from you Ruri!" Yugo barked, "Besides, I'm sick of your jokes Ruri!"

Ruri laughed, and so did (y/n). As (y/n) laughed she spoke, "Oh God! Yugo and Yuto, you two remind me of someone! Honestly..." She stopped, "Now that I think about it, you two look a lot like that someone..."

"Huh?" Yugo spoke, "Don't say Yuri. I know I look like Yuri but I hate his guts."

"Who? What no, I don't even know who that is." She sighed.

Ruri spoke, "She's talking about Yuya."

Yuto spoke back, "What about him?"

"(y/n), Yuto and Yugo are Yuya's brothers. Along with Yuri." She smiled.

"Th-they are?!" (y/n) looked shocked.

"How do you know Yuya?" Yuto asked.

"Well-"

The teacher walked in, all of the students went to their seats and sat down. Yuto turned back and ran his fingers through his own hair. The teacher went to the podium and placed his stuff down. He was also holding an extra textbook for the new student. He came prepared which was nice. He smiled at all of his students, of course he didn't exactly mind if they talked amongst themselves.

He looked over at (y/n). She stood up and did a small bow, "I'm (y/n) (l/n), I'm pleased to meet you Sir."

"Welcome to Maths (l/n), I brought you a textbook." He held it up.

(y/n) nodded and walked to him. She took the textbook and said a small thank you. She went back to her seat and composed herself. Why was (y/n) all embarrassed and out of breath? The teacher introduced himself to her. Mr. T, that's how he introduced himself. He seemed to be more laid back than the other teachers. Though that's cool, (y/n) guessed. Mr. T ran his fingers through his brown hair and turned around. He grabbed a piece of chalk and started to write out a small problem on the board. To be honest, it was fairly easy.

"18x 3 + 3x 2 - 6x", that's what the board read. (y/n) tilted her head, was this factoring or solving? The other students were getting out their notebooks. (y/n) unfortunately only had one notebook with her. She sighed and just took that out. It was filled with her geography notes that she took before. However Yugo stepped in, he handed her a clean notebook.

"Take it, I carry around spares anyways." He smiled.

(y/n) smiled back and took it. She placed the other one in her bag. The teacher finally spoke, "I'll give you guys 2 minutes and 30 seconds to factor this. Good luck!"

He then set a timer on his phone. (y/n) quickly wrote down the problem. Alright, she did factoring before at her former school. She kind of surprised that there were no exponents involved. So (y/n) first wrote down: 18x^3+3x^2−6x. She tapped her pencil against the paper and wrote down some more equations. She began to almost solve for the factoring.

"3x(3x+2)(2x−1)", that was her final answer. She clicked her tongue and started to write more down. She jumped at the sound of the alarm. Mr. T turned off the alarm and pocketed his phone. Yugo gave a aggravated sigh. He messed with his own hair and looked over at (y/n). He almost rolled his eyes, was Maths his forte or not? Yuto looked back and chuckled at the male. Yugo stuck his tongue out in a playful manner.

Yuto raised his hand to answer the problem, "3x-"

"Not yet Yuto, how about you guys compare answers."

"C'mon T, that's boring." Sawatari spoke, "Can we just say our answers and just get it over with?"

"Nope! I'm going to call you up one by one to solve this problem. Starting with... Yugo!"

Yugo jumped, "Me?"

He nodded, "Yep!"

"I didn't even solve it though. I was kind of... stuck..."

(y/n) raised her hand, "I'll do it."

"I like you already! Come up and solve the whole thing while you're at it!" He smiled.

(y/n) got up and took the chalk from him.
