Still a long way from atlanta

YN PoV

We were in the helicopter right now and the pilots needed to piss so we landed in a forest and let them do their business and while they were gone I talked to my team.

YN: so how much ration packs do we have?

Gab: enough to last a few months with the crew of this helicopter here.

Mike: yeah but what is taking the pilots too long?

YN: I don't know, stay here while me and gab go check the pilots.

Mike and James nodded and me and James grabbed our guns and went the direction the pilots went to and when we were walking gab noticed something.

Gab: wait I hear something.

YN: what?

Gab: munching.

I then heard the noise too and we both went silent, I signaled him to check the noise out which was behind a bush and when he checked behind the bush he instantly fired his gun so I ran to him and saw one of the pilot's guts on the ground while the other pilot lay dead next to it.

Gab: the pilot was infected.

YN: great now we have to do this on foot.

We walk back to the helicopter and I tell James and mike what happened and they too were disappointed but they agreed with me when I told them we needed to do this on foot so we grabbed a backpack, one for each of us, and we stuffed it with ammo, water and food and with the backpacks we could carry a lot of stuff and with said backpacks we were able to carry 2000 bullets each with us.

James: seems like we have enough ammo.

Gab: yeah but with it limited we need to use them only when necessary since these things can only bite and scratch not shoot.

We all nod and then we started walking and good thing James was good at navigating without a gps or else we would be lost.

YN: so James how far from Atlanta are we?

James: well I saw some signs earlier and looking at this map we are 50 miles out.

YN: damn that is a little far and the sun is setting maybe we should stay somewhere.

Mike: hey guys there is a convenience store over there and it's boarded up.

Gab: you think there are people or walkers there?

YN: maybe and walkers? Really?

Gab: what seems like all they do are walk and not run or anything else besides eating humans.

YN: ok well come on let's check if it's open.

They nod and we walk to the store and the door was actually not boarded so maybe the people here left. And after checking the place we saw that it was clear so we decided to stay. Mike and James volunteered for the first watch and we agreed to have two people on one shift since the place was a little big and we needed them to watch out if any walkers or hostile humans arrive so while they are taking the first shift me and gab sleep on the floor.

Time skip

I was sleeping when I was woken up by James and he looked very scared.

James: dude we need to leave.

YN: why?

James: because there is a huge pack of those walker things outside I mean they haven't noticed us yet but we can't take the risk.

YN: ok is there anything we can use to leave the place fast?

James: yeah gab found a humvee behind the store with full gas and the keys are inside.

YN: must have been a containment squad.

James: yeah but they must have died.

I nod and follow him to the humvee and I see mike loading his bag in the back of the vehicle so I do the same and ride at the passenger seat while gab drove and James and mike are on the back seat.

YN: so how far do you think this humvee can make it?

Gab: should take us 60 miles of continuous driving before we run out of gas.

YN: good but we might need to make stops when heading to Atlanta, we wouldn't want to attract a horde of walkers to the safe zone.

Gab: yeah.

He started the humvee and then drove us out of the place and he found a highway that leads to Atlanta so he drove to it and when I looked behind me I saw James and mike sleeping already I then saw a charging port for a phone inside so I used it for my iPhone and then I put on headphones and listen to my favorite song and then drifted to sleep.
