A Summer to remember

I swore that I would never again fall in love, and then as fate would have it...You rocked my world.

We were sitting on the peir facing the water as the bond fire and the song ohio by bowling for soup blared in the background. I shook my head looking down at my vans nervously as Colby sat hunched over with his elbows propped on his knees.

"You know you're kind of beautiful." I wispered smiling up at him weakly. Colby laughed under his breath.

"Thanks, I'm glad that I'm kind of beautiful." He laughed again. I swatted his shoulder nudging him playfully.

"You know that's not what I meant. You're just... I don't know this has been the best Summer of my life, and you were a big part of that."

Colby smiled looking up at me through his thick eyelashes. "I had a great time too, when do you go back to New York?"

I shrugged with a sigh pulling my hoodie tighter around me. "Whenever I want to I guess. Kat asked me to move in with her and Sydney, so I don't know."

Colby looked up at me again twisting the rings on his finger in thought. "Do you think you'll do it...I mean do you think you'll stay?"

I shrugged smiling to myself shyly. "I don't know I mean what does LA want with me? I'm just a little girl with big dreams."

Colby smiled and I took a deep breath commiting the way he felt into memory knowing that all it would take was for him to ask me to stay, and there goes the promise I'd make myself almost two years before. Although if I was being honest with myself, the vow was a moot point the moment I saw him. Colby had my heart before I even knew his name.

"Brii?" I looked up Colby's voice snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Yeah?" I replied looking back at him as his eyes gazed intently into mine.

"I know this is going to sound crazy, but I've never felt the way that I feel about you about anyone." He stuttered nervously struggling to find the words. "I just-I..."

I smiled placing a single finger under his chin and raised his head to look at me. Colby moved to speak but before he could form the words.

My lips met his, careful and curious.

"I love you too Colby." I whispered as we pulled away holding hands as we talked for hours just Me  and Colby and the stars.
