It's about time I wrote about my main ship. I mean, I do have a whole book just for them, but still-
This was originally supposed to be angst but that obviously did not go according to plan.

It was growing late into the night as John Laurens stared down into his beer, tracing invisible shapes on the side of the glass. He was sitting at the bar as it bustled with activity, though he paid attention to none of it, only a single person sitting beside him. Though there was no physical contact, John could feel a comforting warmth by his side, having the man close was enough to bring a smile to his face.
Tonight wasn't one of their usual nights, however, as John wasn't smiling. He was hearing his love's voice, but wasn't listening. None of it mattered, it was pointless rambles, John could tell he was dancing around his point. Something was bothering him.
"Alexander." John spoke sternly, and turned his head to meet his gaze. Even after knowing him for as long as he had, those intelligent eyes never failed to take his breath away. Alexander Hamilton was the one person who could turn him to putty in a matter of seconds.
Alexander paused mid-sentence, giving a quizzical look before blinking. "Is there something wrong, Jack?" No matter how often he used it, the sound of his nickname on Alex's tongue was something that always made John's heart flutter.
"I should be the one asking you that question." John started, and when Alex was about to speak again he sent him a quick warning glare. Let me talk. "You've been acting odd. I know you didn't just invite me here to hang out, tell me what's on your mind, you seem troubled."
Alexander hesitated for a moment before letting out a small sigh. "You're right, there's something I needed to talk to you about, but... not here. Let's go somewhere more private."
John felt his heart rate increase at those words. If it was something that couldn't be talked about in public, it was something to do with their relationship. He felt a sudden fear rise in his chest as the possibilities raced through his mind. Maybe Alexander couldn't deal with having a secret relationship anymore and wanted to break up, or he fell in love with someone else, or-
"John." Alexander broke him from his thoughts, a comforting smile on his face. "Don't look so nervous, it's... well, I don't know what you'll think, but I'm not leaving you or anything."
John let out a shaky sigh, giving a small, nervous smile. "How do you always manage to read my mind?" He shook his head. "Sorry for assuming the worst, but..."
"I get it, we're in a tough situation. I don't blame you, if anything I blame the world for being so harsh." Alexander stood from his seat, and quickly looked around to make sure no eyes were on them before he took John's hand in his own, laying a gentle kiss over his knuckles and making the freckled male's heart flutter. "Now, would you do me the great honour of gracing me with your presence on a stroll through the fields?"
John couldn't hold back a smile, getting off of his stool as well and giving Alexander's hand a small squeeze. "It would be my pleasure."

"Oh, come on Jacky! One kiss?" Alexander let out a small whine, reaching out his hand to cup John's face as they laid next to each other.
"I just told you, not until you tell me what's on your mind." John replied, but he still smiled, placing his hand on top of Alexander's. "Though you are being pretty convincing..."
The two had been laying in a soft grassy field under the light of the moon and stars, completely alone with only each other's company. Without the worry of being caught, for just a moment they could be free.
"I'll tell you what's on my mind." Alexander shuffled closer to him. John took notice of a slight nervousness in his expression, and stayed silent, waiting for Alex to speak again. The shorter man was quiet, hesitating, before finally the words came out.
"I love you."
Those three simple words turned John to mush. It felt as if there was a firework show going on inside his chest, and his cheeks grew warm as the red rising to them was clear, even in the darkness of night.
"That's what I wanted to tell you... I know I shouldn't have been so nervous about this, but I've never truly felt this way about someone before." Alexander spoke softly as he gazed into John's eyes with a small smile. "We were just friends first, then friends with benefits, and though we only recently started this relationship, honestly I've had feelings for you from almost the moment I laid eyes on you. I don't say this carelessly, I truly love you and everything you are."
John was silent for a moment, feeling as if he were in a dreamlike state, Alexander's every word filling his heart with joy as he felt like the luckiest guy in the world. "Alexander... I love you too, I love everything about you, from your constant rambling to how perfectly romantic you can be..." He saw a smile growing on Alex's face, one that reflected on his own. "You're my everything."
Alexander closed the distance between them, pressing his lips against John's as he embraced him in a gentle, loving kiss. John quickly melted into it, his eyes fluttering closed, Alexander being the only thing on his mind. For once, didn't care what anyone else thought. He didn't fear being caught or exposed. All he cared about was being in Alexander's arms.
John found that was all he needed. If he could be with Alexander, that would be enough.
