Title: That won't stop the smiles and It's Christmas Eve
Warnings: slight language
Rating: PG
Summary: It's that time of year and anything can happen.
A/N: The title comes from the song Thousand Mile Christmas by Matt Webb! Also even though they're kids I made them more mature for their age. Also regular font = thoughts.
And thank you to @Leahlovesmtrench for being my second set of eyes with writing this.It was that time of year again in beautifully cold Vancouver. With Christmas Day being just twelve days away, you could just imagine the hustle and bustle of the people trying to get their last minute shopping done. Well except for the four boys of Acadia Way. Now I'm not saying they weren't poor but they definitely weren't the richest either. However that did not put a damper on them, as they were the best of friends or even like brothers from different mothers.
There was Mike Ayley. At nine, he was the leader of their rag tag group and was such a sweet boy. Then there's Ian Casselman. At seven, he was the humble one of the group and closest with Mike. Next Josh Ramsay. At five, was the trouble maker of them. Almost always getting into mischief and with such sass. Last and definitely not least was Matt Webb. At four, now he was the shy one out of all of them until you actually got to know him that is and he was the closest to Josh, always following the older around and trying to be just like him. Matt just absolutely adored and looked up to Josh, as one would at that age.
Anyways as Christmas grew ever closer the boys did their best to behave but that wasn't always that easy with Josh, though how much trouble could one get into. The four were currently playing in the snow outside in the middle of the road (making sure no cars were around), at the moment they were having a snowball fight. Mike and Ian Vs. Josh and Matt. Laughter could be heard throughout as Mike was trying to hit Matt, with little to no luck. Matt might be short but he's fast, dogging this way and that as snowball after snowball flew overhead.
"You're not getting way, that easy Webb!" Mike yelled as Ian handed him more ammo. "Over here Matty!" calls out Josh from behind a giant wall of snow, diving quickly behind the wall just as Josh threw another snowball straight at Ian. "Gah! I've been hit!" Ian dramatically says, faking a faint while giggling. Going to sit on the side to cheer on Mike.
"Take that!" Matt says, throwing a snowball right at Mike. It hit him right in the middle of the chest, making Josh and Matt the winners for the second time in a row. "Team Too Cool wins again!" Josh shouts giving Matt a high five, whilst the others pouted. "This isn't the last!" says Ian as the four of them head off to Mike's, for milk and gingerbread cookies.
Once finished the boys go up to Mike's bedroom to watch How The Grinch Stole Christmas. Ian puts in the dvd as Josh and Matt snuggle up in a blanket. Walking back Ian plops down beside Mike as the movie starts.
Halfway through Mike decides to make it a sleepover since Matt has fallen asleep on Josh's lap. Pausing the movie he runs downstairs to tell his mother and to order some pizza, heading back up with a big bowl of popcorn in hand.
After the movie, pizza and popcorn are done it's almost 10pm, so Mike calls it a night as he and Ian go to get changed. As they're walking back, Josh has woken up and was trying to move without waking Matt. "What am I going to do?" Josh whispers, as it looks like he's stuck under the boy. "Here I'll give you a hand!" says Ian gently picking him up, whilst Josh gets to his feet. "Thanks! I'm just going take a shower first!" he replies, heading into the adjoining bathroom.
Fifteen minutes later the four of them are snuggled up under one big blanket, Mike on the right side followed by Ian. Then Josh and Matt on the left, the lights go off just as Matt cuddles closer into Josh. The snow once again falling, as The First Noël rings out over the city.
