FORENSIC FILES - HUNTINGDON REVIEW, AVA LUCILLE CRAMER 7/23/21
It was 3 days before Halloween, in the small town of Huntingdon PA. My feet pounded against the cold ground, like a hammer against a wooden slab. I heard the footsteps behind me pounding closer and closer. I look behind me, only to trip over a crack in the solid earth, and falter to the ground. I tried to get up but before I knew it, I was pinned to the ground on my stomach. I tried to wiggle away, but there was just no use
"Got ya!" Riley shouted
"Yeah, congrats." I replied, in a very monotonous tone.
Riley always won at night seek and tag. I swore she was part cat, she would always point out everything in the dark that we would fail to notice. That night was no different. See, it was just Riley, Sarah, Ellie, James and I. Usually the whole group would be there. Michael had a marching band competition. Sebastian wanted to, but his mother declined. He recently had gotten himself into detention for knocking a kid out. I was pretty sure some kid was taking pictures of him, so he knocked him to the floor. I didn't blame him.
After the tackle I received, I had taken enough. We grabbed all our stuff and began our way home. Riley saw Sebastian walking on the sidewalk across from us. James ran over to question him, asking how and why he was out. The other four of us were too tired to care. We told James we were heading back, everyone had just assumed Seb snuck out. James insisted he hang out with him. I didn't know what it was at the time, but Seb seemed a little off. Sarah, Ellie, Riley and I continued home.
