I had to drag myself out of bed, almost crawling across the floor.  I slid into my chair and shoved all my art off my desk, picking up my drawing tablet and setting it gently on top of the pile.  An earthquake followed by a layer of snow.  Saying my motivation was drained was an understatement.  It was almost 7 a.m. and my entirety was gone, like the flick of a switch.  I pressed the power button on my computer, only to realize there was an immense glare on the monitor.  I got up to close the blinds, but two steps away from the computer, and my whole left foot is filled with pain.  I stepped on an upturned plug.  Like I said, entirety drained.  I finished my dangerous journey to the blinds and back, slipping back into my chair, opening Gmail.  A new message from Seb appeared, from Seb, along with the usual flood of YouTube and other messages, mostly from Sutten, in school, because phones aren't allowed.  But the main focus is the message from Seb, with the link attached.  I opened it, half expecting a stupid video, but was greeted with an article on something called "The Black Eyed Children".
It actually gave a close, almost identical description of 'what' I saw.  It read An urban legend of supposed paranormal creatures that resemble children, usually a friend of whom is seeing it.  The age range is usually 6-16 with pale skin and pitch black eyes.  They're usually found near group of friends, often in public areas, such as parks, late at night.  Sometimes appearing directly at a friend's doorstep.  They often try to invite themselves in, or invite themselves to the friends home.  After the host has greeted the spirit in, it proceeds to attack the host and kill them, via asphyxiation.  All this seemed odd.  There was a small comment from an anonymous user stating
"The only way to rid the spirit is to burn it with salt."  I mean, it sounded pretty cheesy, but it's the only lead I had.  I thought about calling the other three on the spot, but I realized, what if it's fake?  The deep web is a shady place.  Even if it WAS true, how would we know what body we needed to burn?  I was racking my brain trying to think.  I was so deep in thought, that I almost didn't hear my phone buzz.  As I picked up, Michael, of all people was on the other end.  He sounded a little anxious, but fine.
"Did Seb already tell  you about what might have happened last night?"  I just answered with a short "Yeah." His reply was "Read the website?  Im guessing yes."  Michael usually made assumptions after asking a question, making everything seem rhetorical.  I just answered truthfully, with a "No."
"Figures, well, reading into it, from multiple sources, the only way to rid these demon kids is to burn the corpse with salt.  The one problem is, it shapeshifts.  We have no idea who's corpse we need to burn."
"Another problem," I said "is that we're literally only 13 and 14.  You see a group of teens with gasoline and salt in a graveyard, someone's gonna call the cops.  The again, you'd probably call the cops if you saw anyone like that.  But as far as the corpse problem goes," I said, thinking of the odd use of the last words, "We could search the town history.  I heard most spirits are restless, because of some sort of tragic death.  Some sort of suicide or murder.  This town is known for being pretty calm, so the issue wouldn't be that difficult to find something."
"I do understand what you mean, You're the nerd, you do the research.  I'll go inform everyone else."  I replied with a quick "Alright." And hung up, not knowing that that'd be the last time I'd talk to him.
