*Hey guys, this is my first story on wattpad. I hope y'all enjoy. It's loosely based on some events in my life. Please vote and enjoy! :)
I am Veronica Kyle. I'm a girl who goes to Holland all-girl school, just greaaat. A preppy school with, thank god, no uniforms, but definitely a lot of drama. Girls are a lot to deal with and having to go to a school filled with them is exhausting. Especially because in each grade, 9-12, there are only 65 girls. Way too close for comfort. Anyway, I have brown hair with a matching set of brown eyes, complete with tan skin. Really original right? You can thank my parents.
Today is Monday, I think one of the most interesting days of the week because there is always something new to deal with. I just woke up bright and early. I looked out the window as I slowly sat myself up on my bed. The moon I saw last night was no longer in view, but the sky was still dark as ever. It was 5:30 in the morning. Too early, but I need enough time to get ready for school at 8:00. I know, I know. Waking up at 5:30 is freaking early for 8:00 am, but I do live an hour away from school and traffic can be a pain if you don't get up on time.
I step out of bed and go to my closet. I grab some black jeans and a white t-shirt to go with it. I then go to my drawer to grab whatever else I need and proceed to the bathroom. I go through my morning routine and step out looking, okay?
"We got to leave in five minutes, do you have everything ready?" my mom says as I walk down the stairs.
"Yeah just give me a second, I need to feed the cat", I reply.
I take out the cat food, put it in Luna's bowl and run back upstairs to grab my bag. Real resourceful. I stumble across the room trying not to fall over from the weight of bag from all the books. I manage to make my way down to the garage and hop in my mom's car. FYI, mine was in the shop getting its oil changed.
When I get into the car, I immediately pull out my headphones and plug them into my phone and play my favorite Spotify playlist made by myself, of course. The first song that plays, reminds me of her. The girl who confuses the hell out of me. My mind wanders as I start thinking of her. All I can picture in my head are her piercing eyes looking at me. Her perfect black hair laying along her sides. Her smile shinning through my head. For some reason, I just want to cry, just let out all my built up feelings. But, I don't, I just slightly hum the words, thinking of her sea green eyes.
The car comes to a sudden hard stop. My eyes open widely shocked at the sudden jolt.
"Why are we stopping?" I ask with confusion.
"Because we are he-"
My mom's words seem to float past my head. I blink to get a better look out the window. I see. Her. Black hair waving side to side. Straight posture, the small puff of white air coming out her mouth as she breathes. It is her. Lauren Michaels. The girl so close but yet so far away. A honk interrupts my gaze.
"Veronica, get out honey, we have arrived at Holland. Are you alright?," my Mom says with a concerned face.
"Shoot sorry, I'm just tired. Have a good day Mom!", I say.
I exit the car quickly, shouting sorry at the car behind me. I quickly walk up the steps and bump into someone.
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry"
"Its fine don't worry about it Vero"
I recognize the voice immediately. I look up to see her face. Did she just call me VERO?
"Lau-rren?"
"Mhmm," she smirks.
I look at her in shock. I really just bumped into her. I'm such an idiot. She called me VERO!
"Um, you wanna walk in the actual school?"
"Err- Yeah sorry lot on my mind"
She nods and leads the way through the green doors.
"Aren't you cold?", she says looking over her shoulder.
"Not really, why are you?"
"No it's just cuz it's literally 2 degrees out here and you don't have a jacket"
"Oh well uh, I guess I uh have a cold tolerance?"
Jesus, how can I have an A in English and not be able to speak it.
"Where are you going?"
I look around realizing she's no longer in front of me but behind me.
"Huh, what do you mean I'm going to the lockers", my voice becomes a whisper.
"Last time I checked, the lockers aren't in the cafeteria", she smiles and turns away.
I sigh under my breath. I have to get my act together. My head just goes everywhere when I'm around her. You might have realized by now that I'm not particularly focused on guys like other girls at schools. I guess you can say it has been like that for a good amount of my life. I've never really been closed off to anything, but liking guys happens to be one of those things.
I adjust the bag on my shoulder after taking books out my locker. I start walking and my friend Lana finds me as we walk to history class. The classroom door, however, isn't open yet. We still had some time to kill.
"So, what were you talking to Lauren about?", Lana questions.
"Uh nothing really, weather, uh, my faults?", I laugh slightly, but Lana isn't smiling.
"Let me rephrase that. Why were you talking to her? You know the rules. Our squads are legit enemies"
"I'm sorry. I just ran into her okay, I was just being nice talking to her and stuff", I reply.
"Fine, whatever. Just don't let it happen again. The others won't let you off so easily next time", she says before she walks into the history class. Ugh, what have I gotten myself into?
Lunch comes around after grueling classes and Lana rushes to me wrapping me in a hug. Mood swings much? She faces me with that same old smile that seems to never go away. The only time it does is when she's pissed.
"How were classes?", she asks me.
"Pretty good nothing too interesting. What about you?", I ask uninterested.
"Hmm basically the same thing but, OMG. The dance teacher slipped while she trying to Dougie, it was so funny. Look I got a video"
We both die of laughter. Even though we have our hardships, she is a pretty okay friend when her "mean girl" side wears off.
Lana opens the door for me and we enter the lunchroom together following the same routine. Paper plate, paper cup, entrée, grill, drink, maybe fruit, and always dessert. We find our table with that same old smile plastered on both our faces.
"Hey guys", Clara says.
"OMG did you show V the video, Lana?", Brooke and Izzy both say.
"Yeah I did", Lana says laughing.
"I can't believe she fell," I say.
The whole table laughs. We begin to talk about life and concerts coming up. For some reason, I didn't wanna be here. I found myself zoning out and looking towards our "enemies" table. I can't believe there are so many sides to this stupid school. My mind went blank as I caught Lauren's gaze for a moment. She smiled briefly. Different from Lana's or any other girl for that fact. It was...genuine and beautiful, just from that simple second.
*Damn I really like this. Make sure to vote for more parts. Love Y'all!
