Oh my goodness! I've finally arrived! It's more beautiful than I could've ever imagined!
Earth! Our (distant) cousin planet! Oh my goodness, I simply MUST take pictures!
I blinked my third eye (which was more of a first eye since my other two were sewn shut) and heard a mental click.
"Miss, what would you like to do in these two weeks you have until the start of your Earth schooling?" Edward asked. James shot him a glare. "Her name is Sierrah."
"I have no idea!" I exclaimed, shrugging my shoulders, then tossing myself into a pile on the soft and unfamiliar ground.
"You're just a newborn, Sierrah, don't expect yourself to know everything." James cooed.
"I love Earth, yet I know nothing about her, and I've yet to see any of her gorgeous life." I sobbed.
"Don't cry, You'll get to see some soon." James assured me.
I looked up at them. James was short and thin with his birth antenna and tail. His skin was a pale blue-gray. Edward was much taller and stocky and he was modified, like me, to look like a human. Except for his pointed ears. Edward had a third eye while James didn't.
Why do we have third eyes? Oh, it's because our natural eyes are suited for our home planet, meaning we are blind here on Earth without our third eye. It does a bunch more, but that's it's main purpose.
Oh, and yes, James is blind; while were on Earth. His natural eyes are a deep dead-looking blue.
He's the closest thing I've ever had to a parent... With or without his alien appearance.
I wiped my eyes and looked up at James. He picked my up and put me on his shoulders. I giggled.
I noticed Edward on his... What is that?
I pointed to Ed and kicked gently. James walked over to him.
"What's that, Uncle Ed?" I asked.
He looked up at me, then at James, then back to me. "Oh, this? It's called an 'IPhone.'"
I cocked my head to the side. Ed set down his IPhone and grabbed something out of our car.
It was a shiny black car, I think it was called a BMW. He pulled out a small white box. "Your father told me to give this to you."
James put me down so I could open the box. He watched me form behind his eyes, waiting to hear my reaction. His tail swayed behind him a he put his hand on my bony shoulder.
I pulled the top of the box up and saw another 'IPhone.' I looked up at Edward, puzzled. He smiled, "It's for you, Sie."
I looked back down at it all starry-eyed. I picked up the small black item. It was warm. I hugged it to my chest. "I already turned it on for you," James said.
He reached over and clicked a tiny button on the side of my IPhone. A bright white screen showed up and played a little animation. Then it switched to another screen with a picture of space on it.
I held the phone out. "What's this?" I asked.
"Run your finger across it." Ed replied, making the described motion with his finger just above the screen.
I ran my finger across the screen and it switched to a new screen that told the time and the weather. The background was a close-up of water being poured in front of a white backdrop.
It was beautiful. I was so happy I had it.
James looked up at Ed. "Does it have any games?" Ed nodded.
Ed pointed at a little circle on the screen. It had a little piece of Earth food in it. I looked at Ed. "What's that?" I asked.
"It's a slice of cake." He answered. "Oh." I mumbled back.
James smiled. He whipped his tail. "Oh, you know what I just remembered?" He reached towards Ed with an open hand, he was more reaching to the side of Ed, but I bet he meant to reach toward him.
"Can I see the phone for a moment?" He asked. Ed looked surprised. "Are you sure?" He asked, "It's hard enough to work being able to see."
James nodded. "I'll manage."
Edd handed him the phone. James's unlocked it after a few attempts, then he turned the bottom of the phone toward himself.
"Hey, Siri, show me pictures of dyed hair." He'd asked it.
It made a buzzing sound. "Showing pictures of dyed hair." It said in an odd-sounding female voice that was void of emotion.
James showed the screen to Ed. "Did I do it right?"
Ed nodded, thoroughly surprised.
James turned the phone towards me now. "Do you like it?" He asked, "We could do that to your hair." He said. His tail went back to swinging eagerly.
"Really? I pulled my blonde hair in front of me an tried to imagine a lavender streak running through it. "Yes, I would like that." I said. "How long will it take?"
"I'm not sure," James answered. "How about we see when we get there?"
I nodded eagerly. James picked me back up and set me in the car gently. He buckled my seat belt and got into the front passenger's seat in front of me. He reached clumsily for his own seat belt and found it eventually, clicking it into the little box beside his left leg. Ed got in on the driver's side and turned on the car.
"Seat belt, Edward," James reminded. Ed heeded James' advise.
We pulled out of the field and onto a small gray road. We drove for about an hour into town. I looked out my window, pressing my nose to the glass and enjoying the veiw. I just new my iris had become a star. It can do that, you know, since it's a projection. It's complicated.
I saw a sign that said:
Welcome to Earielyn Valley!
"What a pretty name for a town!" I exclaimed.
"What is it, Sierrah?" James asked. "Earielyn Valley," I answered.
I couldn't see his face but his ears moved the way they did when he smiled. I smiled too.
Ed made a sharp right that Jerked me and James around into a parking lot. The sign on the building right in front of us read:
Golden Locks Hair Salon
Ed parked and turned off the car. "We're here."
James and Ed unbuckled their seatbelts and got out almost simultaneously. Ed stood against the door while James opened my door and got me out too.
I looked up at the big glass doors. A strange good feeling crept into my tummy. I sighed. This truly was going to be the best day of my life. My first day on Earth and I already love it here!
