Chapter 23

"Emily I-I need to tell you something" he covers his face with his palms

I grab onto his shoulder and sit down beside him

"I-" he shakes his head ," actually forget it"

"Jacob it's okay, you're my best friend you can tell me."

he looks up at me and stares right into my eyes

his face is stained with tears

" that's exactly it" he wipes his eyes,"you're my best friend"

What is he trying to say?

" I like you, but you have a boyfriend, and I don't want to take that away from you"

I squint my eyes, looking at his face to the floor

No wonder he hasn't been as close with me, he doesn't want anything bad to happen between me and Charles

The only thing I could think to do is wrap my arms around him

"I'm sorry" he cries "I'm so stupid, we're just friends. I don't know why I li-"

"Shhh"

I rub my hand up and down his back, trying to calm him down

The thing is, is that I don't see Jacob as anything but my bestfriend, but he sees me more than that, and now I'm dating char

"Jacob, I love you," I say" but me and Charles are dating now and-"

"I know," he says" that's why I didn't want to tell you, I knew he was gonna ask you out. And I didn't want take that from you"

We hug for a little while longer and then we both get up and walk backstage

"Luna, can I talk to you?"  Jacob asks, as we walk into the room

She gets up and follows him into the hall

"So what was that all about?" Charles asks, as I take a seat beside him

"I'll tell you later" I smile

Luna's Pov

Jacob guides me into the hallway

I look everywhere but his eyes

I'm honestly really upset at him. He lashed out on me when I was just trying to help, and then everyone heard and-

"Luna?" He says,"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have yelled at you"

I look up at him, and a tear rolls out of my eye, hitting my cheek

He places his hand on my face, wiping away the tear with his thumb

"Will you forgive me?"

"Of course," I fake smile," you just can't get mad at other people, for trying to help you, Jacob"

He embraces me into a hug

"I'm sorry," he whispers" I won't ever do it again."

I rest my head in his shoulder

"I love you" he says

"I love you too"
