Treys POV.

Instantly, a spine-chilling sensation goes down my spine. I try not to show it, but all shines through. Deno smirks, pulling me to him by the collar of my jacket.

"That's the shit that happens to little boys who don't pay up." He moves closer, whispering in my ear. "You think you're a hot shot? What because you have a hot temper. That doesn't mean shit." He pushes me against the fence with force. "You a piece of shit just like everyone else in this world. Like everyone fucking else. Don't think you're any better because you weren't in the gang before. You put us first. You pay my money. That's the shit you follow. And I don't give a flying crap about your feelings. I don't give a flying crap about your family or your damn girlfriend." He pulls away. This time his face is about business. "Now, I'm giving you this gun for your own protection. In case you need to use it." He stares me down for a while. "Your first job starts tomorrow.Ma boy De'Von will be down here in a couple minutes to give you some facts. Ya'll gon talk."

As he starts to walk away, he turns around again. His eyes darken more, if possible. "And Trey. Don't even think about trying to shoot me. You won't even get a chance. And even if you do. If you do get a chance to shoot me. And you do it. Everyone you've ever loved will be killed. And we'll let you live. Just so you can suffer."

He vanishes. I stand there. The cool wind hitting my jacket. I stare out in the distance. In Awe.

Dakotas POV.

"Trey hasn't been picking up his phone." I say to Ayanna.

  "Maybe he's out." she insists.

"Its been like a whole week! Why the hell was he not in school?"

  "Flu?"

"What the fuck? NO! He doesn't have the damn flu."

"You know...I shouldn't tell you this right now because ou already pissed but.." She pauses. What the hell. You can't just change the subject and not expect me to be interested.

  "But what?"

  "Nothing."

"Tell me. I can handle it."

"I don't know Dakota." I frown. "Fine." Ayanna sighs. "Angell said...That she slept with Trey.....He's definitely not a virgin."

"What do you mean. He told me he was a virgin."

"Well, I don't know boo." Her lips purse.

"He's lying to me. I can tell! And not only about that. It's something else.He wants to tell me something. But he can't."  I can't just believe Angel's thirsty ass.

  "Pester his ass then!"

"No Ayanna." I look her straight in the eyes. "It's serious. I just don't know what it is."

"Then how you know its serious?" she questions.

  "Because I know Trey."

I know him. But what isn't he telling me. Why can't he tell me? I don't understand! And its bugging me! We used to tell each other everything and now, I feel like he is withholding everything. If he is a virgin, why can't he just tell me. And why would Angell lie about that. What would it do for her? I just want him to tell me. I want him to know that I am here for him. When he needs me. Why can't he see it.? He said he was trying to protect me. But trying to protect me is hurting me in the end.

"I don't know anymore." I say shaking my head.

Ayanna doesn't say anything at first. "Go see him Dakota. Go talk to him. This ain't no white girl,  happy love story shit. Relationships take work. You and me both know that."
